Digital Thermometers are temperature-sensing instruments that are easily portable, have permanent probes, and a convenient digital display. The way a digital thermometer works depends upon its type of sensor. Sensor types include resistance temperature detector (RTD), thermocouple and thermistor.
An electronic thermometer works by putting a voltage across its metal probe and measuring how much current flows through it. A microchip inside the thermometer measures the resistance and converts it into a measurement of temperature.
Thermister: It is a semiconductor material made up of ceramic and is used to sense the temperature. It is placed at the tip of the thermometer by binding with epoxy and is enclosed inside a cap made up of stainless steel.
