Balston Series SR Filters are in full compliance with the requirements of the US Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act. They also meet the regulations for Indirect Food additives used as Basic Components for Repeated Use Food Contact Surfaces as specified in 21 CFR Part 177, and Current Good Manufacturing Practices, 21 CFR Part 110. These filters have been accepted by the USDA for use in federally inspected meat and poultry plants. Balston Steam Filters are in full compliance with the 3A Accepted Practices (Number 609-04) for producing steam of culinary quality. They are also in full compliance with the requirements of the Health Protection Branch of Health and Welfare Canada.
Sterile Air Filters
Balston grade SA filter cartridges, rated at 99.9999+% efficiency for 0.01 micron particles are used in the food and
firmentation industry and are FDA approved. These are Steam Sterilizable.
The Balston GS Series Membrane Filter Cartridges combine absolute membrane filtration down to 0.01 μm, with an integral pre-filter to protect the membrane. Ideally suited for high purity compressed air and gas requirements, these membrane cartridges are available in several housing configurations shown above.

The 99XX-05 Models are the smallest Disposable Filter Units with 11.7 ml internal volume. These models are used in low flow gas or liquid sampling applications, such as liquids to specific-ion analyzers or gases to personal samplers. The Model 4433-05 has 1/4" and 3/8" barb connections molded into the inlet/outlet ports. The 9900-05 is available with a color indicator that turns red when saturated with oil.
Models 9922-11 and 9933-11
Models 9922-11 and 9933-11 are used for application s similar to the smaller DFUs (Models 9922-05 and 9933-05) which require greater solids holding capacity and can tolerate the increased retention time.

Balston high flow rate compressed gas filters offer exceptionally high efficiency coalescing filtration of compressed gas at high flow rates. Specifically designed to remove suspended liquids and dirt from pipeline natural gas, the housings are ASME Code Stamped up to 1440 psig. Equipped with Balston Microfibre® Grade DXE Disposable Filter Cartridges, the filters are rated at 93% retention of 0.01 micron and essentially 100% retention of 1 micron liquid droplets and particles.

The Parker domnick hunter Air Treatment Units (ATU) are compressed air railway dryers fitted with associated filtration. Designed to remove bulk oil, oil aerosols, bulk water, dirt particles and water vapour from railway industry compressed air systems, providing the highest quality compressed air to applications which depend upon clean dry air for their reliable operation. As the patented design is modular in construction, the ATU can be designed to meet the specific dewpoint requirements for the application at the specified worst case operating parameters.
This filter type utilises a very high efficiency coalescing element comprising of several layers of very fine borosilicate glass micro-fibre which captures dirt particles down to 0.01 micron in size and removes oil aerosols down to 0.01 mg/m3 @ 20°C (68°F). Coalesced liquid condensate collects in the base of the filter housing where it is automatically removed from the system by a solenoid operated / timed drain valve.

Submicronic contaminants in compressed air systems plug ori???ces of sensitive pneumatic instrumentation, wear out seals, erode system components, reduce the absorptive capacity of desiccant air/gas dehydrators, foul heat transfer surfaces, reduce air tool efficiency, and damage finished products. The results include product rejects, lost production time and increased maintenance expense. For example, trace amounts of submicronic oil can cause serious fish eye blemishing in automotive Finishing operations. Water left in air lines can freeze during exposure to cold temperatures, blocking flow or rupturing pipes. Compressor lubricant not captured in a Coalescing filter will eventually collect in pneumatic components, causing premature component repair or replacement. Environmental concerns will be raised if oily, compressed air is continually discharged into the atmosphere .
Finite Filter's large capacity ASME filter vessels have been designed specifically for our coalescing elements and incorporate large sump capacities and generous exit cavities for maximum performance with low differential pressures. All units are "U" stamped and conform to ASME Section VIII standard code for pressure vessels. With flow capacities to 37,000 SCFM and optional materials of construction, most compressor source filtration requirements can be met.
Finite’s FFC-110 is often used onboard CNG (compressed natural gas) powered vehicles to prevent contaminants in the fuel tank from getting into the engine, protecting critical engine components, like fuel injectors. Its small size allows for versatile installation and easy servicing. Each housing is powder painted for long-term corrosion protection. These coalescers are ideal for operating environments up to 500 PSIG. Coalescing efficiencies of 95% (grade 10) or 99.97% (grade 6) can be chosen to match the filter to the application. Both the FFC-110 and FFC-110L have an 1/8" NPT drain port with a brass petcock manual drain.

Bioenergy is renewable energy stored in organic materials such as plant matter and animal waste, known as biomass. The wide variety of biomass fuel sources includes agricultural residue, pulp/paper mill residue, urban wood waste, forest residue, energy crops, landfills and animal waste. Anaerobic digestion is the process that occurs when bacteria decompose organic materials in the absence of oxygen to generate biogas.
Biogas is primarily composed of methane and carbon dioxide with smaller amounts of hydrogen sulparkeride and ammonia. Trace amounts of other gases like hydrogen, nitrogen or carbon monoxide are also present in the biogas. Usually the mixed gas is saturated with water vapour and may contain dust particles.
Finite’s new disposable indicators are an easy way to detect the presence of liquid (water or oil) in a compressed air system. The indicators will change from white to red when the respective liquid is present and provides peace-of-mind for critical applications throughout a facility.

Balston Vacuum Pump Exhaust Filters remove 99.9% of 0.1 micron oil mist and smoke particles. Balston Grade 30 vacuum Pump inlet Filters remove 90% of all 0.1 micron particles and droplets. Balston Grade 102 Vacuum Pump Inlet Filters prevent oil back streaming from the pump to the evacuated chamber, and protect the pump from damage by submicron particles (at relatively low concentrations).
All Balston filters are available for hazardous and non-hazardous applicatioon, and offer superior chemical and solvent resistance. Balston Vacuum Pump Filters increase productivity by eliminating costly shutdown time and maintenance.
Sterile air filters: ealston grade sa elements are rated for +99. 9999% efficiency for 0. 01 microns and comply with usfda requirments for removal of bacteria. These elements can be steam sterilised and can tolerate temperatures upto 300°f. The housing is of st. steel with heat resistant seals like viton. Suitable pre-ifiters using grade dx + bx or grade 4c elements should precede the sa filters in order to maximize the efficiency and increase life. Sometimes an au or cl cartridge filter may also be necessary to remove hydrocarbons in case of a lubricated compressor. These filters can be used to provide dean, dry sterile air for fermentors etc. And also for breathing air systems like in asbestos removal operations. Spray paint systems, sandblasting operations and while cleaning of storage tanks, esps, reactors etc. In addition, eto filters are also available to deliver clean gas to sterlisers to improve performance and reduce maintenance.
FILTERS FOR CNG: ---ifALST8W filters are effective for both metering stations are well as on-vehicle applications to protect fuel system components and can be used both in low and high pressure ratings. Such filters help in maximising usage time, minimize maintenance costs and extend the hfe of the equipments/components. Housings can be of St. Steel or anodised aluminium. All aerosol contaminants in the 0.3 to 0.6 (CLS grade) and 0.01 (BO grade) micron range will be removed. Oily water emulsion accumulates in the sump and can be drained off while solid dirt partides remain trapped on the surface of the fibres. Pressures can vary from 500 to 5000 psig.

lstmi filters are used for filtraion of various types of gases including high purity gases, corrosive and cylinder gases. The system may consist of a pre-fllter + final filter and finally an adsorbent cartidge filter to remove trace vapor components. Almost all hydrocarbons and common acidic gases (except hf) can be handled using the j-series or . *ismw range of filters. Pressure can be upto 5000 psg. The moc of housing is either cs or alumimium or st. Steel (or even monel/tefion) with suitab4e seals.

Bxjbq are the most commonly used coalescing elements while grade cl (with either activated carbon or molecular sieve) is used as the adsorbent media for removal of almost all major hydrocarbons, aromatics, acidic gases etc. For removing solid contaminants poor to coalescing filters, = —— element grade 3p is ideal since it is resin impregnated and also water resistant.
STEAM FILTERS: ALST steam filters remove contaminants from steam in food processing and pharmaceutical applications. They comply with FDA regulations for food contact materials. The patented Grade SR filter element is rated for +98% effciency for 0.1 microns. MOC is SS304 with capacities upto 2000Ibslhr and maximum pressure upto 125 psig. The filter cartridge is completely free of any impurities which could extract into the steam. These filters reduce condensate in steam and thereby odor and taste problems are minimized.

The elements are available in borosilicate glass microfibre (for gases) and in combination with pp (for liquids). Housings are available in a wide range of materials including ss316, teflon, monel. Pyrex bowls etc. For pressures upto 5000 psig and temperatures upto 200°c. Common applications are found in slipstream or bypass sampling, stack gas sampling and sampling liquid effluent streams, ambient air, high pressure condensate, water etc. For retention efficiencies upto 99. 99% for 0. 01 microns
Also offers filters for protection of vehicle emission analysers for removal of solid particles, condensed water and oils. They are available for both petrol and diesel engines and can withstand the higher temperatures in the latter. Filtratkn efficiency is 93% to 0. 1 micron particles.
Vacuum pump inlet 1 exhaust filters: ialstow provides inlet filters to protect vacuum pumps from damage by solids and liquids, while at the same time preventing loss of valuable or hazardous materials. This is done using a grade 30 cartridge (90% for 0. 1 micron). To prevent oil back streamin9, grade 102 adsorbent cartridge is used (99. 999% for oil removal and 99. 999% for 0. 1 micron for solids). Housings can beof st. Steel cx cs or aluminium.
The exhaust fitters help to remove extremely fine oil in droplet or mist form below 2 microns. Hence the pumps can discharge into dean work areas or outside, without causing pollution. The collected oil can be continuously drained and recycled back to the pump. Thus the flow resistance is reduced. The element grade 371 h is a two-stage structure which minimizes the oil carry over and is resistant to all lubricants and to most chemicals found in vacuum pump exhaust. it combines a retention efficiency of 99. 9% at 0. 1 micron with a low ftow resistance of less than 2 psid back pressure when saturated with oil at maximum flow rate. The compressed air that comes out of a compressor is generally too humid, contaminated and sometimes too hot to be introduced directly into the distribution network without suitable treatment.
