These are made of mild steel or En24, En36, and En8 to ensure a long service life. Soft jaws facilitate jaw placement on three jaw chucks. The majority of three-jaw chucks used on turning centres have fine serrations on the master jaws and top tooling, which must be aligned properly when the top tooling is mounted to the chuck. To turn the desired dia of jobs without damaging the soft material's outer dia, these soft jaws are clamped on master jaws via serrations and clamping bolts.
