Ours is a team of Doctors dedicated to bring the world-class medical imaging facilities to the region, especially the elite population of tricity, i.e. Chandigarh, Mohali & Panchkula. Team lead by Dr. SPS Chawla started the region's first Medicos owned & operated CT SCAN in sector 22 way back in 1991. In 1995, the team again brought the region's first highest strength permanent magnet 0.3 Tesla MRI. It was the boon for the patients who were being referred to Delhi for this investigation. The Institute was the first to be empanelled by the Himachal Government. In 2004, city had its first 32X8 channel 1.5 T MRI & DEXA bone densitometer at SUPERB MRI & CT SCAN CENTRE in sector 8. This facility is also empanelled by the Haryana & Himachal Governments. With the installation of this MRI, the time taken for one scan reduced to almost 40%, the coverage of the scan increased, flexibility in imaging protocols made it easy to conclude the diagnosis & increase in number of channels resulted in the high quality imaging. DEXA bone densitometer is a textbook accepted investigaion for osteoporosis & the introduction of this facility in Chandigarh has also helped many patients. Now the pioneers in the field of medical imaging are proud to introduce the Tricity’s first advanced 64 slice per rotation of 0.33 seconds (194 slices per second) CT Scanner capable of undertaking the CT Coronary Angiography in addition to routine CT Scans of abdomen/chest/head etc. in FORTIS HOSPITAL, Mohali, the mecca for Cardiac patients in the region. This new 64 cardiac imaging procedure hitherto not available in the tricity, has proven to be a breakthrough in technology for the diagnosis of heart diseases. The procedure is safe, fast, lasting a few minutes, and is non-invasive (No Catheter, No Anaesthesia, No Admission). A cardiac CT scan can provide an image of the heart and its arteries so detailed that the presence of plaque, narrowing or stenosis of the arteries, calcium scoring and abnormal heart vessels can be determined with a comparable degree of detail and accuracy previously only available through an invasive procedure such as cardiac catheterization or angiography. The presence of any of these conditions could put an individual, even a strong healthy athlete or someone with no symptoms, at risk for heart disease.+ Read More
