1) SEALED SYSTEM DESIGN

The main gear drive unit is an enclosed type, oil filled unit with no exposed gears, which requires absolutely negligible maintenance. It lubricates itself with every operation, and also ensures that there is no dust ingress which seriously affects open type gears.

2) SELF LOCKING FEATURE (INTERNAL LOCKING)

Due to the special gear profile, the gate gets locked in whichever position it stops - when driven either by motor or by crank. This ensures total safety in the fully closed position, as it cannot be opened by normal external force. to the boom. Also when stopped in mid position there is no danger of gate moving down due to wind load etc.

3) HIGH EFFICIENCY DESIGN/ MINIMUM POWER REQUIREMENT

The gear unit has been designed specifically for this equipment, with a very high degree of efficiency, which results in minimal power requirement.( ¼ H.P. with 100% safety factor for gate leafs up to 15 ft width & 1 ton weight, for total gate opening of 30 ft & 2 Ton weight). The specially designed extra low friction hinges provided are the major contributing factor for this low power requirement.

4) FRICTION CLUTCH SYSTEM

A spring loaded adjustable friction clutch is provided between the motor & the gear unit in the HEIDZ Design. This provides a gentle start to the gate while starting its movement & also safeguards the motor against overload. In case of any obstruction to the gate, the clutch starts slipping, and finally the motor stops due to the surveillance system provided.


5) SURVEILLANCE SYSTEM

An electronic circuit is incorporated in HEIDZ design, which trips the motor automatically in case the clutch/belt are slipping for long time, limit switches at end of stroke fail to operate or due to any fault which is not allowing the gate to complete its stroke.

6) AC MOTOR SYSTEM

The HEIDZ design incorporates a General Electric/Crompton Greaves AC induction motor which is relatively maintenance free as compared to other manufacturers who use motors with carbon brushes.

7) CONTACTOR BASED CONTROL CIRCUIT

The HEIDZ Design uses heavy duty contactors for controlling the motor which are more rugged than the electronic controls used by other manufacturers. Maintainability is also easier.

8) AUTOMATIC SPEED CONTROL

By a special mechanical linkage system, the gate speed is controlled such that it starts slowly, picks up speed in the middle of stroke, and again slows down before coming to a stop at the end of stroke. This ensures a smooth & jerk free stop, and extends life of the system, while achieving quick operation.


9) QUICK MANUAL OPERATION

Due to special gear unit design, the crank handle is directly inserted in the intermediate stage of drive unit, instead of at the motor end. This results in very quick manual operation within 12-15 seconds. The effort for cranking is also very low due to the special hinges.

The Gate system consists of following major parts:

a) Drive Mechanism, & Connecting Linkage – 2 Sets
b) Special Low Friction Hinges – 2 sets ( 4 Nos.)
c) Control Panel – 1 No.Rack & Pinion Drive system,

A) DRIVE MECHANISM ( for each gate Leaf) consisting of:

i) ­Max 1/4 H.P­. AC 220V single phase reversible motor of General Electric make.

ii) Oil Filled & ­Sealed type­ composite helical cum worm gear drive unit­ ( Heidz Make).

iii) Maintenance free ­timing belt­ ( imported make) along with self resetting ­friction clutch­ between drive unit & motor, so that there is no overloading of motor in case of any obstruction to the gate.

iv) Internal locking in gear unit to lock the gate in the position it stops. After gate stops, it is ­not be possible to force open­ the gate with hand.

v) ­Hand crank­ arrangement with motor cutout, to operate the gate in case of power failure.

vi) Linkage system between output shaft of gear unit & each gate leaf to transmit motion of drive mechanism to gate with push pull type arrangement.

vii) Special speed control in link design to automatically slow down the gate movement before reaching fully open/ closed positions for smooth stop.

viii) Optional VFD Drive Control System also available with 3 phase 22 V AC Motors.


B) HINGE SYSTEM

Special low friction Extra Heavy Duty hinges provided ( Heidz Make). For each gate leaf Bottom hinge has a taper roller bearing pre lubricated & oil seal provided on pin. The Top hinge shall have 2 nos. sealed type ball bearings.
The hinges shall have adequate capacity to hold heavy gate without the need for any roller running on the road.

C) CONTROL PANEL

To operate 2 gate leafs

Shall consist of :

Weather Proof cabinet housing all the Control switchgear to operate the 2 gate mechanisms with ­L&T/ Schnieder/ Siemens contactors­, motor rated MCB ( Indo Kopp/ Schnieder make), along with surveillance circuit, terminals wiring etc.
ii) Electronic ­surveillance circuit­ should automatically trip the motor after some delay, in case gate is constantly obstructed, limit switches, clutch, belt etc. are not properly adjusted/ not functioning.
iii) Push button control unit with 3 push buttons for gate control, i.e. for open, close & emergency stop.
iv) System shall ­operate satisfactorily within 200V to250 V AC­

(Without Fringes) of length 20/ 24/ 32 ft. fabricated from 3mm 2.5 & 1.9mm aluminum sheets die pressed to form tapering channels with special stiffening bends in the channels to increase the strength to weight ratio. Two such channels then joined together with batten plates by riveting to form a box section. Total boom shall have 3-4 such sections, joined by nuts and bolts for easy replaceability.
