Jea Band was established in the year 1936 by Lt Shri Jealal Thadani. This famous brass band started its journey in Sind, Pakistan. In India it established its first mark in Ahmedabad, Gujarat in 1940, then in Jaipur in 1947 where Shri Jealal ji settled with his family post partition and in Delhi in 1950. The Legend succeeded at every location he set foot on and since then Jea Band has never looked back and has grown to become the face of brass band in India.
Shri Jealal ji during his early years actively participated in the Scout Band as a Leader. Owing to his love and dedication towards music he brought together a group of musicians bringing into existence the famous Jea Band.
Shri Jealal ji was known for being stern and disciplinary. His troupe was identified by their clean and complete formal attire in every wedding that they performed. This was not just limited to his troupe but was also an example set by his three sons, Shri Hiralal ji, Shri Motilal ji and Shri Kishanlal ji Thadani respectively. All three sons actively performed in the band with Shri Hiralal Thadani ji playing the Clarinet, Shri Motilal and Shri Kishanlal ji playing the accordion along with their father who would confidently lead the group to direct the music as per the liking of the baraaties. His knowledge for music made him a great teacher for every member that joined the Jea Band Group enabling each one of them to master their respective instrument and play any form of music encompassing various cultures with utmost enthusiasm and creativity. This is what brought Jea Band to a level unmatched by many.
Shri Jealal ji earned most of his recognition in form of medals and certificates from well known industrialists and the Rajgharanas in Ahmedabad, Jaipur and Delhi. A huge crowd would come together to see the famous Jea Band march through the streets during any wedding or religious processions. People would long to have Shri Jealal ji grace the procession with his presence and would in return show appreciation in form of garlands, presents, etc.
Jea Band was not just limited to a band that performed in weddings; they also performed as an orchestra group. This made Jea Band not only popular among weddings but also among various occasions, festivals, welcome functions and parties.
Shri Jealal ji’s sons became a part of the company at a very young age thereby mastering the art of music and managing the troupe with utmost poise. When Shri Jealal ji took his last breath in 1981; his sons Shri Hiralal ji, Shri Motilal ji and Shri Kishanlal ji took over Delhi, Ahmedabad and Jaipur offices respectively. This is being proudly followed by the third generation who have joined them and are in the process of taking the name yet forward.
