HCC has expanded its construction capabilities to serve the entire Hydro Power segment. HCC's accomplishments in the sector include dams, barrages, tunnels, underground power stations and surface power stations, along with water conductor systems like surge shafts, pressure shafts and penstocks. We undertake Hydro Power projects on EPC basis as well.

HCC executes the most challenging projects year round, even at 10,000 ft elevation in Himalayan terrain. Moving equipment on rocky ground, braving heavy snowfall for HCC's engineers and workmen is routine work at site. Reaching remote areas of India and also neighboring countries of Nepal & Bhutan, our work has enriched the lives of people and provided an impetus to the development of local regions. Through the innovative use of technology and our determined efforts we have contributed to the overall progress of the country.

Gulabchand Foundation was established in 2003, under the leadership of Ajit Gulabchand, Chairman & Managing Director of Hindustan Construction Company Ltd (HCC), as a nonprofit making organisation registered under Section 25 of the Companies Act, 1956. The Foundation primarily focuses on carrying out various developmental initiatives in Health and Education for the advancement of underprivileged rural and urban sections of the society. 

HCC has built some of the most remarkable transportation projects in India. Whether it was India's first sea link or the redevelopment of the historic Mughal Road, our technical knowledge and project management experience has guaranteed the successful execution of futuristic and technologically advanced construction methodologies 

We believe effective project planning and coordination expertise ensures smooth implementation. Over the last five decades, we have delivered some of the best mass rapid transport systems, bridges and highways. With our legacy and knowledge backing us, we have won and executed a number of projects awarded under the prestigious National Highways Development Program. These projects have significantly contributed to the country's development by enhancing connectivity of people and the flow of trade nationwide.

Our achievements in this sector include:

• Almost 10% of India's highway development programme (3,000 plus lane km)
• Mumbai-Pune Expressway - India's first concrete pavement access-controlled expressway
• More than 324 road and rail bridges
• Bandra-Worli Sea Link - India's longest open-sea, cable-stayed bridge
• India's 1st and 2nd metro systems in Kolkata and Delhi

HCC has been a construction partner from the inception of India's nuclear power generation program and has built over 50% of India's nuclear power generation capacity. All 8 phases of the Rajasthan Atomic Power Project have been entrusted to HCC since the first Unit completed in 1972. HCC specializes in pre-stressed containment structures for reactor buildings. The company has executed India's largest nuclear power plant in Kudankulam (2 X 1000 MW), Tamil Nadu.

In line with the country's ambitious programme, the company is gearing up to provide integrated solutions in nuclear power by tie-ups with leading engineering and construction solution providers.

Special projects
Among many firsts the company has achieved, HCC was given the mandate to built India's first strategic underground oil storage cavern at Vishakhapattanam, Andhra Pradesh. The second similar strategic oil storage cavern is also under construction in Padur, Karnataka. 

A few of our achievements in nuclear & special projects include: 

• India's first Light Water Reactor and largest nuclear power plant of 2x1000 MW including Sea Water Intake at Kudankulam.
