Kiran Mazumdar Shaw launches Rad Gurukul-first teleradiology training center by Teleradiology

Dated: 19-Mar-2008

19 March 2008, India eNews
Teleradiology Solutions, premier provider of teleradiology services, today launched ‘Rad Gurukul’ the first ever teleradiologytraining center in India. Located in Whitefield, Bangalore, the facility will be dedicated towards training and refining the skills of radiologists, technologists and IT personnel involved in health care IT.

The training center was inaugurated by Kiran Mazumdar Shaw, CMD Biocon. The other guest of honor present at the event was Pramila Nesargi, Chairperson, and Karnataka Women’s Commission. Equipped with state of the art amenities, the facility has a state of the art auditorium with videoconferencing facility, which will enable interaction with trainers and trainees from across the globe.

Inaugurating the center, Kiran Mazumdar Shaw said “Globally and in India in particular, we know that the prevalence of disease is rising alarmingly, due to changes in lifestyle and diet. Clinical trials radiology is extremely relevant to prove the efficacy, safety and affordability of any new treatment. With high-end equipment and quality infrastructure, Rad Gurukul poses as an ideal training ground for future radiologists and telemedicine experts. This learning and expertise can be leveraged to benefit society.”

“Teleradiology Solutions was among the global pioneers to recognize the importance of bridging geographical distances to provide timely diagnosis. Radiology being a niche area, we are today facing an acute shortage of qualified employable talent in India, which includes health care personnel involved in teleradiology IT, technologists and doctors trained in telemedicine. We believe that superior training can bridge this gap and help us reach our goal of establishing India as a hub for high quality teleradiology and telemedicine services.” said Dr. Arjun Kalyanpur, CEO Teleradiology Solutions.

Biocon partners with Teleradiology Solutions

Dated: 15-Sep-2010

Bangalore Sep 15, 2010     Leading biotechnology company Biocon has entered into an agreement with Teleradiology Solutions to provide Teleradiology reporting services to Clinigene, Biocon's clinical research arm.

Teleradiology Solutions offers pharmaceutical vendors, clinical research organisations and biotechnology organisations the opportunity to shorten their development cycles by using its clinical trials radiology reporting service, a company press release said.

Teleradiology Solutions MD and Chief Radiologist Dr Arjun Kalyanpur said delays in the drug development cycle can be an issue of concern for pharmaceutical and biotechnology firms involved in drug development and R&D. These are related in part to delays in reporting of radiologic scans performed to confirm that the patient has responded positively to the drug being evaluated in the clinical trial, he said.

"The delays are in turn related to the worldwide shortage of radiologists, estimated to be as high as 20 per cent in some studies. We are happy to partner with Biocon and offer our services to ensure timely execution and quality evaluation for clinical trials in radiology," he said.

The organisation offers reporting by radiologists experienced in RECIST (Response Evaluation Criteria In Solid Tumors) and WHO (World Health Organisation) measurement criteria, he said.

According to Biocon Ltd Chairman & Managing Director Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw, "To achieve our main objective, accelerating clinical research, we leverage on an adept mix of technology, experience and personal traits. Keeping in line with our mission, Teleradiology Solutions, given their impressive track record, was the partner of choice to meet our complex image analysis requirements."
