In June of 2013, Imagination previewed it's new Series5 Warrior generation of MIPS-based processor cores. The Warrior generation will include new core IP comprised of new processor families covering entry level, mid range, and high end processor core solutions covering a wide variety of application requirements. Key technologies such as SIMD, virtualization, multi-threading, 64-bit CPUs and enhanced 32-bit addressing will be made available at various product points within the Warrior series. Each family delivers top Coremark performance in its class, and achieves that performance very efficiently in silicon and power.
Series5 Warrior Processor Cores
M-Class M51xx CPU
The MIPS M51xx Warrior M-class IP cores are the first microcontroller–class CPUs with hardware virtualization, bringing a new level of security and reliability to a wide range of entry-level embedded applications.
The M51xx cores achieve the highest CoreMark/MHz score among MCU-class cores.
The M51xx cores are based on the same 5-stage pipeline architecture and leverage the high performance, comprehensive DSP/SIMD features of the previous generation MIPS microAptiv family of cores, along with the microMIPS Instruction Set Architecture (ISA), which provides up to 30% code size reduction over 32-bit only code.
An optional IEEE 754 Floating Point Unit provides high-performance support of both single and double precision instructions.
The M51xx cores are ideal for industrial control, Internet of Things (IoT), wearables, cloud computing, wireless communications, automotive, storage and other applications.

Mentor Graphics, in partnership with Imagination Technologies, provides regular releases of the Sourcery CodeBench integrated development environment for the MIPS architecture. Probes & Probe Software
MIPS provides the Navigator™ family of EJTAG probes. They support all the latest MIPS cores and licensee processors in the MIPS32 family, from the 4K® and 4KE® through to the 1004K™ and 1074K™ cores.
The Navigator probes are designed to support the special features and integrated peripherals of the MIPS family of synthesizable cores. The MIPS EJTAG features are completely supported. PDtrace™ features are also supported, if present in the processor implementation. Both on-chip and off-chip trace capabilities are integrated into the synthesizable IP model of the core. This allows MIPS Technologies to provide powerful debug tools with advanced features at a competitive price.
MIPS Linux
MIPS actively supports, develops and improves the Linux kernel for the MIPS® architecture, in particular MIPS cores, the MIPS32® and MIPS64® ISAs and associated ASEs, and the Malta™ platform.
