Rotary Microtome is a highly versatile sectioning device suitable for Medical Institutions, Research & Pathological Laboratories. This microtome has special application for cutting thin sections of histopathological specimens and also caters to the demands of industries such as Plastic, Leather, Textiles, Rubber & Fertilizer. It is ideal for those who want to avail advantages of a Rotary Microtome at a moderate cost.
The entire mechanism stands on a heavy cast iron base ensuring stability and rigidity. Its compound slide ways of critical tolerances guide the specimen block. The metal hinged cover housing protects the internal mechanism against dust and paraffin waste, it can be conveniently opened for resetting, cleaning and lubricating. The Microtome is driven by a handle which can also be locked. Cutting sections are obtained in different thickness by mechanically operated crank through a knurled knob in front of the instrument.

The knurled knob is graduated in microns for feed setting and ready reference. A detent click action ensures positive adjustments in one micron increment.
The knife holder unit is equipped with a rotating knife clamp to adjust desired angles for best sectioning. It has forward and backward movements to ensure contact of specimen with the knife and lateral movement to get maximum use of knife edge. Smooth & accurate specimen movement is achieved with the time proven operating principles of the feed mechanism. Travel is entirely independent to the vertical movement of the specimen block. When the feed limit reaches to an end point, it disengages itself. To bring the feed screw back, the vice is pressed slightly and the main gear wheel is turned clockwise till the screw reaches its starting position. All parts are fabricated from selected alloys and the Microtome knife is manufactured from fine grain steel tested to maintain optimum sharpness strength.

The present set-up is designed to study the friction head losses through pipes, fittings, and flow metering devices. Four different ID sizes smooth pipes and one artificially roughened pipe is connected in parallel. A valve arrangement is provided to operate the one pipe at a time. Various types of fitting are also fitted with pressure taps to conduct the experiment. Flow meters (Venturimeter and Orificemeter) are also accompanies the set-up. For water circulation and flow rate determination sump tank & measuring tank are provided. The educational software and data –logging package has been developed for this unit. It is compatible to interfacing unit designed by CL Engineers. It provides a comprehensive educational software environment within which the investigations can be performed. This software runs in Windows XP. It is capable to tabulate the samples readings according to requirement of experiment under study and results obtained can be compared. Interfacing the set up with computer using software can do the real time data acquisition. Data can be transferred in Excel Files for further calculations, plotting graphs etc. Software allows the user to have control on data logging, printing the stored data, preparing spread sheets in Excel etc.

Cyclone Separator Labappara

Product Description

A Cyclone Separator is a vertical cylinder with the inlet stream introduced tangentially near the top, giving the suspension a spinning rotation in the cylinder. The centrifugal force acting on the particles tends to throw them radially to the sides of the cylinder as they spiral downward to a conical bottom where they are removed. A collector is fitted at the bottom & the induced draft blower is used to create the air stream. The classified air leaves the cyclone through a pipe extended down into the cyclone & passes through blower delivery side fitted with fine screen cloth bag to avoid dust expansion in the laboratory. The setup consists of I.D. blower connected to discharge side of Cyclone Separator. A flow meter with manometer is provided to measure the flow rate of air. Pressure drop in the Cyclone is measured by water manometer. Solids are collected in the collector fixed at the bottom. The set-up is complete with flow control & by-pass valve.

      Description

       

      The apparatus consists of a glass tube with one end having bell mouth entrance; connected to a constant headwater tank, at the other end a valve is provided to vary the flow rate. The tank is of sufficient capacity to store water; a capillary tube is introduced centrally in the bell mouth for feeding dye from a small container placed at the top of tank, through polythene tubing. By varying the rate of flow, the Reynolds number is changed; this also changes the type of flow. Visual observation of dye (Thread) will indicate the type of flow, which can be confirmed from the Reynolds number computed. It consists of a heater sandwiched between a composite structure having three different types of slab on either side. A small hand press rame is provided to ensure the perfect contact between the slabs. Heat produced by heater flows axially on both the sides. Temperature Sensors are embedded at the interfaces of slabs to determine the temperature gradient.

      The experiments can be conducted at various values of heat input and calculation can be made accordingly.       Heat Transfer from a Pin-Fin Labappara

      Product Description

      The setup is designed to study the heat transfer in a pin fin. It consists of pin type fin fitted in a duct. A fan is provided on one side of duct to conduct experiments under forced draft conditions. Air flow rates can be varied. A heater heats one end of fin and heat flows to another end. Heat input to the heater is given through Variac. Digital voltmeter and digital ammeter are provided for heat measurement. Digital Temperature Indicator measures temperature distribution along the fin.

      1. To study temperature distribution along the length of fin in both Free & forced convection.
      2. Comparison of theoretical temperature distribution with that of experimentally obtained distribution.

      Shell and Tube Heat Exchanger are popular in industries because they occupy less space and offer reasonable temperature drop. The apparatus consists of fabricated SS shell, inside which copper tubes with baffles on outer side are fitted. This is two-pass heat exchanger so that hot water passes to one end of shell through the tubes and returns to another end through remaining tubes. The cold water is admitted at the one end of shell, which passes over the hot-water tubes. Valves are provided to control the flow rates of hot and cold water. Flow rates of hot and cold water are measured using Rotameter. A magnetic drive pump is used to circulate the hot water from a re-cycled type water tank, which is fitted with heaters and Digital Temperature Controller.

      The Centre of Pressure Apparatus has been designed to determine the static thrust exerted by a fluid on a submerged surface and allow comparison of the measured magnitude and position of this force with simple theory. A fabricated quadrant is mounted on a balance arm, which pivots on knife-edges. The knife-edges coincide with the centre of arc of the quadrant. Thus, of the hydrostatic forces acting on the quadrant when immersed, only the force on the rectangular end face gives rise to a moment about the knife-edges. The balance arm incorporates a balance pan for the weights supplied and an adjustable counterbalance. This assembly is mounted on top of an acrylic tank, which may be leveled by adjusting screwed feet. An indicator attached to the side of the tank shows when the balance arm is horizontal. Water is admitted to the top of the tank by a flexible tube and may be drained through a cock in the side of the tank. The water level is indicated on a scale on the side of the quadrant.

      Forced Vortex Flow is an example of rotational flow and can be generated by rotating a cylinder containing a fluid about its axis or by rotating a paddle in a large volume of fluid. Under steady conditions, each particle will move with the same angular velocity and there will not be any relative motion between fluid particles. Streamlines for such a flow will be concentric circles and the total energy is constant along a streamline but varies from one streamline to another.
