Dermatology

The general dermatology division deals with conditions related to skin, hair and nails. The venereology division deals with all sexually transmitted diseases, including hiv. The leprosy division deals with all the stages of leprosy and its complications. The cosmetic dermatology division deals with all cosmetic procedures related to skin, hair and nails. Venereology

Is the branch of medical science that deals with the diagnosis and treatment ofsexually transmitted diseases (std) also known as 'venereal diseases'. The venereal diseases include bacterial, viral, fungal, and parasitic infections. Some of the major diseases are hiv infection, syphilis, gonorrhoea, candidiasis, herpes simplex, human papilloma virus infection, and genital scabies. Other sexually transmitted infections studied in the field include chanchroid, lymphogranuloma venereum, granuloma inguinale, hepatitis b and cytomegalovirus infection.

Leprosy

Is a chronic bacterial disease of the skin and nerves in the hands and feet. And in some cases the lining of the nose. It is not clear how the germ is spread, but household and prolonged closed contact tends to increase contagion. The germs get in the air through nasal discharge of untreated lepromatous patients. Patients with leprosy should be treated by a skin specialist who has experience with the disease. Treatment is with multiple drugs for six months to two years. The best way to prevent the spread of leprosy is the early diagnosis and treatment of people who are infected

Interventional neuroradiology is a relatively new specialty in which radiologists use minimally invasive techniques to treat a variety of abnormalities in the arteries and veins of the brain, head, neck, and spine. These radiologists have completed additional fellowship training in interventional neuroradiology (also called endovascular surgical neuroradiology) after their radiology residency at some of the most prestigious institutions in the country.

Diagnostic Spinal Angiography

A diagnostic spinal angiogram is a medical procedure that offers an extremely precise evaluation of the blood vessels surrounding the spinal cord. During a spinal angiogram, highly specialized doctors (called neuro-angiographers) are able to observe arteries and veins by using modern sophisticated imaging equipment. In order to take pictures of the blood vessels, a contrast medium (or "dye") is gently injected through a small, soft, and flexible tube called a catheter. This catheter is inserted in the groin and carefully advanced into the targeted blood vessel under the guidance of low dose x-rays. As there is no sensation associated with the advancement of the catheter inside the blood vessels, diagnostic spinal angiography is generally performed under light sedation as an outpatient procedure (meaning that patients come for the procedure and go home the same day). In our practice, the majority of patient do not need general anesthesia. When they do, it is generally because of associated medical conditions. In that case, the angiogram is still most often performed as an outpatient procedure. Spinal angiography helps diagnosing medical conditions that involve the arteries and veins of the spinal cord. This typically includes spinal cord vascular malformations, such as dural arteriovenous fistulas (DAVF) and arteriovenous malformations (AVM), but also certain types of spinal cord stroke and disorders involving the spinal cord venous system, such as spinal venous thrombosis.
