Since it’s commissioning in 2008, Kagal plant has witnessed rapid expansion and today, boasts of a production capacity of over 2,40,000 engines, 21,000 gensets and 96,000 pump sets annually. Equipped with cutting-edge technology infrastructure in manufacturing, quality assurance and testing, this integrated plant houses end-to-end processes from component manufacturing to Genset assembly.
A well trained, experienced and motivated workforce is guided by robust quality systems and processes. This plant has been certified by IMS (QMS, EMS & OHSAS), for best of quality management, environment protection, health and safety practices. Complete range of KOEL Green Genset engines are manufactured at integrated Kagal facility.
Recently awarded ‘Green Co Gold certification’ by CII, Kagal plant is a manifestation of KOEL’s commitment to environment and sustainability. Once can witness the focus through an array of efforts such as rain water harvesting, sewage and effluent treatment, Bio gas, afforestation / plantations, solar cooking and many more such steps.

Research & Development
CRE focuses on the design and development of engine product portfolio that meets the company’s long-term ambitions, market challenges, social trends and legislative requirements.
Engine range expansion in terms of displacement volume of the engines has been an ongoing activity. In the last two decades, KOEL has improved design and development capability from 6.6 litre inline engines to 24 litre Vee 12 engines. The existing engine platforms are being upgraded for higher peak cylinder pressure, thereby higher BMEP on a continuous basis. With in-house engineering, KOEL has successfully launched 180 bar peak cylinder pressure engines and CRE is developing technology for 200 plus bar peak cylinder pressure engines. KOEL had set a new benchmark in the power generation market with the launch of 32 kVA / litre power density engine.
New and existing platforms are being optimised to set new benchmarks in terms of fuel economy, power and cost in the market segments of company’s interest. Biogas engines, 100 per cent bio-diesel compactable engines and, natural gas stichiometric engines have been developed to encourage an environment friendly society. Extensive work on new and existing engine platforms is being done to make products compliant with the emission norms of chosen market segments. KOEL is first Indian engine manufacturer to meet American emission norms (EPA certification) for the Industrial Engine market.
Application engineering department focuses on development of branded products for global markets, application specific engine solutions for construction equipment manufacturers for domestic and export markets, and customised solutions to markets such as defense, marine, mining, firefighting, etc.
All our branded products are designed, developed and validated to the strictest norms in the shortest possible time, based on the understanding of customer, distribution channel and marketing requirements. CPCB-compliant canopied generating sets for the domestic market, Super Silent (65 dBA @ 1 mtr) for the niche markets, open generating sets, E-packs and G-drive for export market are designed and developed by Power Generation Section of application engineering. KOEL is the first engine manufacturer to comply to the CPCB emission norms among the global engine and generating set manufacturers.
Application specific engine solutions are delivered by closely working with construction equipment manufacturers. This involves selection of the right engine specifications and, design and development of engine configuration and support during the validation of product performance. KOEL is currently providing the largest number of CEV BSIII-compliant applications with the widest power range in the Indian market.
Highly customised products are developed to meet the unique and extreme requirements of the Indian Army, Navy and Air Force. Auxiliary marine generating sets and main propulsion application-specific solutions are developed and certified with classification societies. FM/UL certified and non-certified diesel engines for firefighting systems are designed and developed to meet the requirements of firefighting equipment markets. KOEL is the first Asian engine manufacturer to get its firefighting range of engines certificated to FM / UL norms.
