Solar Collectors: These are the primary components responsible for capturing sunlight. They come in different types, such as flat-plate collectors or evacuated tube collectors. Flat-plate collectors consist of a dark-colored absorber plate that absorbs sunlight, while evacuated tube collectors use a series of glass tubes to minimize heat loss.

Absorber Plate: Located inside the solar collector, this plate absorbs solar radiation and converts it into heat. It’s usually coated with a selective material that improves its efficiency in absorbing sunlight and transferring it to the heat-transfer fluid.

Heat-Transfer Fluid: This fluid (often water or a glycol mixture) circulates through the collector, picking up the heat absorbed by the absorber plate. In some systems, a heat-transfer fluid is used to transfer heat to the water through a heat exchanger, especially in colder climates to prevent freezing.

Storage Tank: This is where the heated water is stored until it’s needed. The tank is usually well-insulated to minimize heat loss. In some systems, the storage tank is integrated with the collector, while in others, they are separate.
