Chairman's Message

Chairman's Message
A. M. Naik L&T: Group Executive Chairman
L&T Infotech: Chairman

Mr. A.M. Naik mirrors the values of the organizations he heads - professionalism, dynamism and high ethical values.

He joined L&T as a Junior Engineer in 1965, and was rapidly given positions of increasing responsibility. He was appointed Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer of L&T on April 28, 1999. On December 30, 2003, he was appointed Chairman and Managing Director of L&T. He successfully led the Company through some of its most challenging times, and enabled it to emerge stronger each time.

His broad global perspective has seen the Company expand its horizons beyond domestic borders, and position itself to become a global player.

Mr. A.M. Naik heads an organisation that is among the most admired companies in India, reputed for the technological excellence that characterises its projects and products, for its contribution to the development of indigenous engineering capabilities and, for its inherent professionalism and value systems.

Transforming L&T into a world-class conglomerate has always been Mr. Naik's mission.
Mr. A.M. Naik restructured the company into sharply focused operating divisions, and led a transformation focused on enhancing shareholder value. His emphasis on HR and IT as the twin engines of growth has yielded significant results.

Mr. Naik spearheaded the move to de-merge L&T's cement business to unlock value for shareholders.

He was responsible for the formation of the Employees' Foundation/Trust to strengthen the employees' sense of belonging, and to enable L&T retain its identity and unique character.

Achieving global standards required changing mindsets and institutionalising systems to benchmark every critical activity against international standards. These efforts have shown dramatic results. Till 1999, exports were largely to the Middle East. The international thrust has seen major breakthroughs into the markets of the developed nations such as the US, Canada, UK, Norway, South Africa, China and Australia.

Earlier in his tenure (as Vice President) Mr. Naik initiated the process of indigenising manufacture of critical equipment for process industries. This enabled L&T achieve major successes in the indigenisation of critical technology in the defence and nuclear sectors. L&T is now closely associated with the nation's defence establishment in the development of weapon and missile systems.

To lead L&T into the new millennium with sustained profitable growth, Mr. Naik restructured the company and organised operations into focused Business Units in line with its core competencies.

He was principally responsible for the extensive use of IT as a major enabler across all L&T's businesses.

Mr. Naik recognised the need to respect and reward intellectual capital. He believed that the importance of this intangible asset is invaluable. The organisation, under his leadership, took major initiatives to attract, retain and groom talent.

A concern for social and welfare issues complement Mr. Naik's keen business interests. Growing up in a family of school teachers, modest in means but rich in values, Mr. Naik is deeply committed to social uplift. He provided both monetary assistance and management expertise in setting up educational institutions and a hospital. He is the Chairman & President of Kharel Education Society which runs a high school with the latest educational facilities.

Mr. Naik is also associated with several educational and charitable trusts to uplift the weaker sections of Indian society. He is a member of Board of Trustees of the Indian Business Trust for HIV/AIDS (IBT).
Mr. Naik is also the Honorary Consul General for Denmark in Mumbai.

Our Team

Our Team

Our deeply committed people are our most important asset. Our teams combine diverse capabilities and profile that range from domain experts to technologists and solution architects. They are united by an unwavering integrity and a strong sense of commitment to our clients. Our people have earned spontaneous appreciation time and again for going that extra mile.

We are committed to maintaining a professional, value-driven, work environment where every employee feels fulfilled and respected. We have adopted a multi-pronged approach to competency development and retention that allows us to attract, retain and build the best talent.

Corporate Social Responsibilies

Corporate Social Responsibilies

At L&T Infotech, we look at Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) differently. Our employee-volunteers enjoy spending their personal time with less fortunate sections of the society. This includes teaching community students, visiting orphanages and old age homes; organizing medical camps and helping Non-Government Organizations (NGOs) sell their products/artifacts. This volunteering is for seeking personal fulfillment and joy. It is all about giving back to the society. Moreover, as a by-product, it brings some cheer in the lives of the underprivileged.

At L&T Infotech, we call this initiative -- ‘1Step – creating fulfilling moments.’ It is due to this unique focus that we call this Individual Social Responsibility (ISR) and it also promotes sustainable community development with a commitment to promote the cause of creating a more inclusive society.

Through this initiative, we wish to ensure that our employees, who are an integral part of this initiative, grow as complete individuals, by bringing forth the leader in them who will drive change, rise above the situation and most importantly, develop a holistic perspective towards life.

"It was the great experience for me, spending time with kids. It takes me back to my childhood, no tension only fun with learning. We only spent few hours with them, but still this is going to be an award-winning possession for me. I feel proud being part of AARAMBH and I would love to visit there again and again. And I want all my fellow Infoknights to be part of these CSR initiatives.
- We make a living by what we do, but we make a life by what we give."

Nitesh Agarwal, Banking and Financial Services

"Before being part of 1Step I always had a feeling that the people in old age and orphanage homes would be very sad and depressed and would lack the basic education and amenities, but 1Step has proved this notion of mine to be completely wrong. 1Step gave me the opportunity to spend time with such people. We celebrated their birthdays, played Antakshari with them, prepared kitchen garden with them, conducted variety classes with them and a lot more.

At the end of every activity I saw happy and content faces. 1Step taught me that it’s not the money that they want but it’s your time. It’s the feeling that someone somewhere cares, cares for their happiness. 1Step has gifted me with some wonderful and everlasting memories which I will cherish for a long time to come. Thank You 1Step!!!"

Shweta Venkateshwaran, SAP Business Unit

"I’ve always loved going to school in my childhood days. This time around, though the reason was different, I enjoyed going back to school again. So far the experience has been very good and I’ve enjoyed interacting with the students and helping them with their studies (Maths). I appreciate this initiative taken by L&T Airoli and feel blessed to be a part of it. Waiting for the school to reopen and go back there again."
