This haveli is more than 200 years old and was gifted by late His Highness Maharana of Udaipur to forefathers of Mathur family and their present generation has transformed this Haveli into a Guest House. Present generation is successfully running the guest house from last 20 years and is recommended by many guide books. The Haveli Lake View Guest House in Udaipur was built in a old style and is considered the oldest of its type in Udaipur, Rajasthan, a fusion of the Rajasthani and Mughal architectural styles, and was built on a hill top that gives a panoramic view of the city and its surrounding, including several historic monuments such as the Lake Palace in Lake Pichola, the Jag Mandir on another island in the lake, the Jagdish Temple close to the place, the Monsoon Palace on top of an overlooking hillock nearby and the Neemach Mata temple. Udaipur is linked to the filming of the James Bond movie Octopussy, which features the Lake Palace, city palace and the Monsoon Palace.
