The hospital is located in the heart of Mumbai; and is very close to the domestic and the international airport. The hospital started functioning in 1997 with 10 beds and initially had only 22 doctors. Today, it boasts of 314 beds with one of the largest Intensive Care Units (ICUs), most advanced 12 Operation Theaters, more than 300 consultants and manpower of nearly 1,800.Hospital attends to around 300 In-patients and 1,500 Out-patients daily.

Lilavati Kirtilal Mehta Medical Trust
Lilavati Hospital and Research Centre is run and managed by Public Charitable Trust - Lilavati Kirtilal Mehta Medical Trust which was formed in 1978. The Trust was settled by late Shri Kirtilal Manilal Mehta. The Trust has engaged in innumerable charitable endeavors across India.
Shri Kirtilal Manilal Mehta
Shri Kirtilal Manilal Mehta was born in Palanpur on February 7, 1907. He lost his father when he was just 12, and soon joined the family business in Rangoon, Burma. Shri Mehta set up an independent business in Mumbai under the name Kirtilal Manilal Mehta. Seeing the potential in the export of diamonds, he pioneered the entry of the Indian community into Antwerp. Shri Mehta received a number of honors including an Award in 1973 for being a Leading Exporter from the Government of India, and an Outstanding Exporter Award from the President of Israel. Shri Mehta was decorated by the King of Belgium in 1991. Shri Mehta was the first ever Indian to be decorated "Officer of the Order of Leopold" by His Majesty the King of Belgium. He was also honored by the Nawab of Palanpur.
Smt. Lilavati Kirtilal Mehta
It was her vision that led to the inception of one of India's modern hospitals. All of her life, she was loved and respected for her warmth and generosity. She strongly believed in equality, and that every child has a right to education and equal opportunity in life. She made conscientious efforts towards the betterment of the less fortunate.
