Business Logo Design. There is an old saying that ‘a picture is worth a thousand words’ and a good logo can say more about your business, and be remembered and identified with greater ease, than a thousand words ever could. In such a competitive realm a logo helps your business to stand out from the crowd and distinguishes you from your competitors. A powerful brand identity makes it easier for clients to remember you; after all it is easier to recollect pictures than text. But having just any logo done, however, is not enough to create brand uniqueness for you. A sub standardly thought up logo can very easily destroy the image of your business. On the other hand, a carefully designed logo can reach the buying audience and associate to them the value of your business or product. Therefore, logo designing is a major phase that any business owner must undertake. Be it a profitable business or an E-commerce business, logo designing is an essential task for all.

Brand Identity | Business Logo Design:

If you want to make a lasting impression on your target viewers, making the right decisions when it comes to visual brand identity is crucial. The logo is the most essential and valuable visual component of your brand, so keep this in mind when allocating your branding budget and hiring professionals. The logo appears on stationery, websites, business cards and publicity. For that reason, a well-designed logo can contribute to business achievement, while insufficient logo can imply amateurishness and turn off potential customers.

Client Confidence | Business Logo Design:

When confidence is low more people will identify shopping with your business as a risk. This particularly holds true if your business is less known in the market. To build a confident personal brand, even when faced with difficulty, it is essential to start with a solid foundation. This foundation consists of two main constituents – the internal elements that are initially unseen to the eye and the external elements that are instantaneously visible. A Logo is the central, identifiable external element that helps customers discover, share and remember a company’s brand.

Recognition | Business Logo Design:

Your company’s brand images are vital in the awareness-building process and the overall success of your business. Images don’t just include logos, but anything on a letterhead, business card, website, packaging and other advertising materials. Your images should positively stand for your business, and they should fit your target market and the niche you’re in. A logo provides an additional benefit here. It can help boost a company’s sales if the customer will see a familiar logo. A strong logo can often turn the tide in favor of the brand rather than its competitor, when it comes to attracting the viewers. However, something can be memorable for good reasons or bad reasons. Obviously, you want your logo to be remembered only for good reasons.

Professionalism | Business Logo Design:

Clients may think that if you don’t care how your business presents itself, you don’t care about the quality of your product or service, either. A professional logo design conveys a feeling of trust and trust is a big reason why clients initiate a relationship with your company. Most people are willing to pay more to have a relationship with a trusted business, as opposed to working with an unknown, generic entity. Having a unique, eye-catching logo, that properly signifies your business and appeals to the client market that your business is in, can easily give your clients the impression and trust that you are experienced and know your customers.

A majority of businesses are today taking resort in infographics when they want people and targeted audience to quickly grasp a business idea. The importance of infographics can be gauged from the fact that you find them everywhere on the web. Infographics stand out on the accord of dispelling information smoothly and presentably.

WHAT IS INFOGRAPHICS DESIGN?

Infographics are creative and illustrative representation of your business philosophy that you are trying to convey. In creating infographics, the designers involve various elements such as charts, colors, images and graphs. All these elements serve the purpose of telling your business story so that the target audience can easily understand your business process and grab the statistics.

HOW TO DESIGN INFOGRAPHICS?

To design infographics, you should incorporate images, colors, icons, statistics and drawings etc. along with a brief text about your business. In designing of infographics, the text and all other elements must be presented in a precise way. The aim is to convey the message and statistics in a visual manner. Crowdsourcing sites such as Designhillcan work well for you to create your infographics design with the help of professional designers.

If you have never used infographics to promote business, here are some reasons that will convince you to market your business through creative infographics design.

INFOGRAPHICS ARE GREAT FOR VISUAL APPEAL:

Studies have revealed that 90% of information transmitted to the brain is visual. The attention span of audience is typically very short, so it is only natural that you use infographics to grab their attention in short time. Infographics are designed for a quick scanning of your content, unlike traditional methods of reading an entire paragraph of business idea. Infographics attract people through the use of bright colors and appealing imagery.

PEOPLE LIKE TO SHARE THEM:

Infographics are interesting and evoke a sense of pleasure because of bright colors and images. Also, audiences grab the information in a less stressful way. Hence, people are likely to share your blogs and articles if they contain infographics rather than lengthy articles and essays. You can use Google Analytics to track how people are engaging with your blogs that have infographics. Plus, your infographics will also be shared across social networks, which helps your building more concrete links.

BUILD BRAND AWARENESS:

Your infographics are effective marketing tools to build brand awareness. This is due to the fact that visuals used in the illustration of content can convey your business message to the audience easily and so your brand stays in the memory of the audience for a longer time.

You can also use infographics offline for marketing activities. For example, you can take out printed versions of infographics to distribute them on the sidelines of an event or use them on brochures and leaflets to promote your products and services.

Make sure that you use a creative infographics design that is professionally done by the designers. For ideas and inspiration, you may scour through the pages of one of the popular crowdsourcing websites.

THE VIRAL FEVER:

Since infographics are attractive and people love to share them on social networks, their chances of becoming viral are much higher than ordinary text content. Jeff bullas revealed on his blog that infographics production has increased by 1% every day, this makes the world of graphics more inclined towards infographics rather than traditional form of text-on-images. A viral post is something that doesn’t evoke a sense of doubt to the viewers. So infographics are successful because you instantly know that no brand is going to mislead or lie about the information after spending so much effort in making an infographic.

Contrast is really important when you’re starting to learn how to paint.

A good knowledge of contrast in drawing helps significantly because you will have learnt the value of light and dark.

If you are coming from a non-drawing background, you will have to be more aware that to make a dramatic painting “contrast is king”, rather than trying to add a bright colour to lift the painting…

Pencil vs paint:

Contrast is somehow clearer to understand in drawing because you have a white piece of paper and a dark pencil, It feels natural.

If you transfer the same level of contrast to painting it can seem daunting and the areas of dark can look too heavy. However, it’s very important to have a range of contrast in your paintings from black to white to truly show off the colours.

It as a misconception to think that adding black to a painting will make it dark and dull, in fact it is essential to create a vivid painting.

Tone can be deceptive:

In the Degas above (an unfinished oil painting which is great to be able to understand his painting technique) you can see his use of the coloured ground.

He then has added the darkest dark and lightest light to give the painting a tonal scale to work within.

In the coloured version your eyes are drawn to the face and the tension in the neck created by the composition. In the black and white version your eyes are drawn towards how dark the back of the dancer is. This isn’t as apparent in the colour version because our brains have a ‘shadow blindness’ when viewing images.

A beginner has the tendency to leave dark areas lighter as your logical brain tells you “it’s going to be too dark.”

The 3 tone masses:
  • Most objects can be reduced broadly into 3 tone masses, the lights, the half tones and the shadows.
And learning the habit of reducing things to the three simple tones is a fantastic foundation to base your drawings and painting on.
  • At the beginning of a painting the main job is to establish an overview of the subjects 3 areas of tone without getting caught up in the detail, this is easier said than done and takes great practice
  • Pro tip: When you squint your eyes you simplify large areas making it easier to see which areas fall into light, half tones and shadows.

Toned Ground:

When you have the toned ground it acts as your mid tone. The white is your brightest light and burnt umber can act as the dark.
This is true in landscape and portrait painting, I know I keep on going on about a toned ground but it is so important to your painting success.

How your camera can teach you an easy trick for seeing tone:

It’s hard to judge the tone of your painting when you first start but if you have a digital camera you’re in luck. Often in the menu settings there is an option to adjust the viewfinder to black and white. (I know this is true in panasonics but I can’t vouch for other brands)

  1. Take a photograph of your painting with the camera settings to black and white.
  2. Take a photograph of your subject with exactly the same viewpoint you’ve done your painting from, also in black and white.
  3. On the camera flick between the two images on your viewfinder, whatever jumps out needs attention.
  4. This can also be helpful to see any drawing mistakes also.

Attractive Invitation Printable Design

Either you need to send it by email or mailbox.

  • Invitation for Birthday Party.
  • Invitation for Baby Shower, Aniversary, Bridal Shower.
  • Greeting Card for Christmas or any ocassion.
  • Banner for Birthday, Welcome, etc.
  • Corporate Invitation

You have to provide:

  • Names should include.
  • Date and time.
  • Address.
  • RSVP.
  • Any extra information you want to show.

You will recieve:

  • JPG/PNG format. 300 DPI resolution.
  • Multiples reviews are included.
  • Ready for print.

Providing Pertinent Information:

Obviously one of the most important reasons for having the perfect invitation is to include all of the proper information for your guests. They certainly won’t be tossing it in the trash if it is full of useful details! Below are some of the important things to include in your invitation suite:

Who?

This seems like a bit of a “duh” thing to add, but it is incredibly important to put who the invitation is coming from. Not only should you include the bride and the groom (obviously — lol!), but if the parents are helping host the event their information should be included. Generally, the bride’s parents are the hosts, but if the groom’s parents are helping out, their names should be included as well.

One other thing to think about is to make sure people know who the bride and groom are when they receive their invitation. Maybe the groom always goes by a nickname and no one would know who he was if it wasn’t included. Feel free to make it personal, proper etiquette doesn’t always apply to each and every situation.

When?

Once again, something you would assume would be second nature, but it’s important to do it properly. Always say when the event will start — not when the music will start. The time on your invitation should be the time your bridal party will begin to walk down the aisle. As a guest, you should always plan to arrive at least 10 minutes prior to the time provided on the invitation. Also, don’t forget to include when your cocktail hour and reception will begin. You may also want to say when dinner will be served because the beginning of the reception is not always the beginning of dinner — you don’t want hungry guests!

Where?

When writing the ceremony location you should include the full street address and the city. If many guests are from out of state you can include the state as well. There is no need for the zip code, it’s not very appealing on the eyes to have an extra string of numbers on your formal invitation. You can follow the same rules for the reception information.

Feel free to include directions on a separate, but matching card, especially if guests are coming in from out of town or if the route is tricky or may be under construction. To be completely helpful, include directions from the hotel to the church and from the church to the reception. Everyone has GPS nowadays, but they don’t always provide what you would consider the best route.

Dress Code?

Do you expect your guests to arrive in suit and tie? Well then be sure to tell them! Also, the big one people miss in this department is telling guests your event will be held outdoors. Outdoor weddings require different attire, especially for the ladies, so be sure to let your guests know on the invitation so they can wear their flats so they don’t sink into the grass and bring a shawl to keep them warm if the day is chilly. Don’t forget to include your Plan B if the weather chooses not to cooperate.

I’ve gathered a few definitions and first I’m gonna start with the one that has been previously mentioned on the Bannersnack blog:

A banner ad, or a web banner, is an advertisement displayed into a web page. The advertisement consists of an image (.jpg, .png, .gif) or of a multimedia object (usually created using Flash). Thus, banner ads can be static or animated, depending on the technology used to make them.

If you’re looking for a definition that’s a bit more formal, according to Wikipedia:

A web banner or banner ad is a form of advertisingon the World Wide Web delivered by an ad server. This form of online advertising entails embedding an advertisement into a web page. It is intended to attract traffic to a website by linking to the website of the advertiser. In many cases, banners are delivered by a central ad server.

And I’m going to share one more example:

Banner ads are image-based rather than text-based and are a popular form of website advertising. The purpose of banner advertising is to promote a brand and/or to get visitors from the host website to go to the advertiser’s website.

But to sum it up and make this as simple as possible, all banner ads share the same basic function: you click on this image/multimedia object you see on a web page and your internet browser takes you to the advertiser’s website/landing page. They are simple yet very important pieces of html and their presence on the web can make a big difference for internet based companies and brands.

A little bit of history:

Some of you might know already about the first banner ad ever created, but if you don’t, here’s your chance to travel back to simpler, “ancient” times and experiment an old school website and its first clickable web banner ad.

Take your time to study it, I’ll be waiting here.

Also, check out the interview with Joe McCambley, the creator of banner ads. How cool is this?

Ok, all set? Let’s move on.

So how exactly do they work?

Just the way a physical banner outside a shop would make you enter the shop because it says they offer a great discount on a specific product or they have this new product that kind of sparks your curiosity. It’s the same with online banner ads.

When creating a banner ad you usually have a single goal:

banner ads are intended to generate traffic to your website by linking to it and from there you try to seal the deal, whatever your deal is.

But you need to do that by attributing a role to your banner ad and see what fits best in that specific context. Web banners work the same way regular print media advertising does: they inform, they notify about a new product, they grab your attention, increase brand awareness and so on.

Having that in mind, there are a few ways of sending people to your website to find out more about your business, through banner ads.

We are going to call those the roles a banner ad can play.

Increasing customer traffic:

The banner ad encourages the visitors to go on the advertiser’s website by clicking on it. And through this method, the ad is paid in many ways (CTRs, impressions, time spent on the web page etc.)

If you haven’t tried it yet, let me remind you that the best tool for measuring the banner ad’s effectiveness when it comes to increasing your traffic and wanting to see if people click, hover or leave is Bannersnack Analytics.

A great example on how banner ads are used to increase traffic is provided by Target. They plan their ad strategy around certain time periods.

Vector Any Logo Image:
  • 1 Image.
  • High-Res Raster.

Why your brand needs a Vector logo:

The value of a Vector logo boils down to two parts: flexibility and scalability. Vector logos are flexible because they can be output to just about any common Raster image format (jpg, png, gif, tiff, etc.). Vector logos are also scalable in size allowing them to be enlarged to fit the side of a blimp or reduced to the size of a business card without jeopardizing quality.

Vector graphics vs Raster graphics:

There are numerous Raster graphic formats, and the strengths and weaknesses of each is a post of it’s own. The real benefit of a Vector graphic over Raster graphic is obvious once an image is scaled larger than its original size. For example:

Notice the quality of the Vector format is maintained as it’s magnified, whereas the Raster format looks terrible.

Raster graphics can be scaled down in size and typically maintain their quality. Once you start increasing the size of a Raster graphic, the quality degrades dramatically and you will have a very blurry version of your logo. This is a common problem and is a critical reason to have your logo in Vector format.

Whenever a Raster version of your logo is requested, use the Vector version to generate the output. This will ensure the absolute highest quality and accurate representation of your brand.

What is a Vector graphic?

According to Wikipedia:

Vector graphics is the use of geometrical primitives such as points, lines, curves, and shapes or polygon(s), which are all based on mathematical expressions, to represent images in computer graphics.

That’s quite a complex explanation, but in short, Vector graphics use mathematics allowing them to be scaled large or small without losing quality. There are several Vector graphic file formats, but the ones most commonly used for logo design are:

  • EPS (Encapsulated PostScript): Adobe’s EPS format is the most widely used Vector graphic format. It is the standard interchange format for the print industry, and is a well supported export format from Vector graphics software. Brands should always have their logos in EPS format.
  • AI (Adobe Illustrator Artwork): Adobe Illustrator’s native format is AI which is a modified version of the EPS format. The AI format is fairly common, but is less universal than the EPS format. If you have an AI version of your logo, make sure to also have a version in EPS format to cover your bases.
  • SVG (Scalable Vector Graphic): SVG is the W3C Vector graphic standard. SVG is gaining in popularity as modern browsers increase their support of the format. SVG is becoming increasingly important as the various screen resolutions that websites need to support continues to broaden. Leveraging SVG, designers can support just about any screen resolution without worrying about quality degradation. For additional information on SVG, head on over to the official SVG website

To be on the safe side, brands should always keep an EPS version of their logo readily available. EPS is the most widely accepted and supported Vector graphic format for brands.

Raster images embedded in Vector graphics:

Raster images can be embedded in Vector graphics, but it completely defeats the purpose of having a vector logo. For example, a photograph can be saved inside of an EPS, and used as a texture or effect in a logo. This may look good in some situations, but eventually the brand will need to scale the logo larger than the original raster resolution and distortion will occur. It’s best to design smart, and stay within the capabilities of Vector graphics. Never embed images or raster graphics in your logo.

Presentation Design:

Do you design PowerPoint presentations? Do you have difficulty getting your company — or your clients — to realize the importance of good design?

Perhaps you can provide some information about the relationship between design and profits. Here’s a point to make:

Peer Insight, a research firm, did a 3-year study of the performance of more than 40 Fortune 500 companies from 2000 to 2005 and found that those that focused on customer-experience design outperformed the S&P 500 stock index by a 10 to 1 margin.

Recently, Fast Company magazine, wrote an entire issue called, “Masters of Design,” naming several masters. One of them is Yves Béhar. Béhar’s work has become so well known, that one of his design’s, the Leaf LED lamp for Herman Miller is shown in the Museum of Modern Art in New York. And the San Francisco Museum of Modern Arthonored him with a solo exhibition this past fall. He is perhaps best known for the $100 laptop, which he designed for Nicholas Negroponte and MIT Media Lab’s One Laptop per Child project.

Béhar notes that only a few companies, including Apple, Target, Procter & Gamble, and Nike, have the type of “full-throttle engagement” in design, making sure that design is important in everything the customer sees and feels. This includes not only the product, but the packaging.

Archetype Associates, a consulting firm, examined the backgrounds of 368 board members of the 30 companies in the Dow Jones Industrials Average and found that only one, Steve Jobs at Disney, with a design background. This means that companies don’t feel that design is an expertise worth having on their boards. Those few design people who do get support, have it from the very top.

According to Béhar, a company that makes an emotional connection to users will gain long-lasting customer loyalty. He’s talking about products, of course, not PowerPoint presentations.

But design-driven companies incorporate good design into all that they do. You see it not only in their products and packaging but on their Web site and in their brochures. You see it in their Annual Report.

Tell the powers that be that if they use professional designers for their Web site and printed materials, they should do the same for their PowerPoint presentations. Consider yourself, whether or not you have formal training, a design professional. (If you don’t have training, petition to have the company pay for you to get some.) And make sure that the company knows the importance of good design.

Web design and social media design are vitally important this day and age for both large and small businesses. With more and more consumers doing their purchasing online having well-functioning and visibly appealing web design and social media accounts are necessities. Technology is rapidly advancing to meet the increasing needs of both consumers and businesses. Web design has been greatly modified so that businesses are easily able to share things to their social media profiles to reach more clients in more ways.

How Social Media Works with Web Design:

You’ll probably notice as you browse the internet that most pages now show a button to “Like” on Facebook or “Follow” on Twitter as well as others social media options. In fact, it’s gotten to the point that it’s quite rare to not see these options on various web pages. This is because these options have intentionally been included in the web design to offer more opportunities for customers to interact with companies and find their social media profiles.

The web design for social media pages is just as vital as the web design for the company’s primary business web page. Both need to be visually attractive, interesting, user friendly, and invoke action. The internet is quickly becoming an interactive marketplace for hundreds of thousands of customers and businesses. You want to be sure that your company puts their best foot forward for your customers in all aspects of potential contact.

Most social media web pages allow for customization on some level, and with several social media options available you will want to make sure that your customers recognize you when they find you. You want the web design of your home page to be similar or complimentary to the web design featured on your social media pages. This helps customers know that they found the company that they’re looking for. Your web site and your social media profiles should work hand in hand to help your customers get all of the information that they need about your products or services.

Using Images in Social Media and Web Design:

A great way to connect the web design of your home page to your social media pages is through the use of images. A picture can say a thousand words so you want to put as much care and effort into the pictures that you use as you do with other aspects of your web design. It’s a good idea to stay away from stock images and focus on creating a high quality, personal image that gives the public a good idea of what your business is about. Your web designer can help you ensure that the same quality presented in your original image makes it safely to your website and social media pages without distortion or loss of quality.

It’s also important to not get carried away and use too many images in your web design. Too many images can become distracting or overwhelming to your customers. Having blank space built into your web design is okay. It makes your website and social media profiles look less messy and easier to read.

Designs for Social Media Ads:

With more and more home pages including links to social media in their web design, more people than ever are interacting with the social media profiles for the companies that they support. Billions of people are using social media and these social media sites allow you to expand the reach of your business by using ads.

Social media ads can be used to target a specific demographic or to even target friends of the people who like your page in an effort to expand your potential customer reach. The option for advertising is there, however, with many other companies targeting the same groups of people, you really need to make sure that your ads stand out against the crowd. Opt for ads that are interactive and attention grabbing.

Want to learn all you need to know about this useful imagery resource and how you can benefit from it? Keep reading!

What are Stock Images
Stock images are existing photos, vectors or illustrations that you can license

These images are ready to use, and as soon as you’ve paid for the license, you’re allowed to use them within the accepted terms. They are a great resource for any project that needs images, because they not only let you save time, but also money.

Stock images solve both problems at once. These images are ready to be used, and the cost of the license is much, much lower than that of commissioning a professional.

How Can you Use Stock Images You can use stock images for most commercial, editorial and personal purposes. Royalty Free license allows for a wide range of uses. Rights Managed images enable pretty much the same possible uses, but limits it to one use per license (Learn more about the types of stock photo licenses available here).

Stock photo agencies let you use the images only as part of a greater design. You cannot display the image just as you downloaded it, but rather edit it and modify it, customizing it to your project.

There’s different allowed uses depending on the license. You can find all the acceptable uses of Royalty Free images here, and the allowed uses for Rights Managed images here.

Because of this, it’s essential not to sacrifice clarity for design elements. Most business cards contain your business name, your name and title, your telephone number, an email address, and a street address. If your company has a website, include its address so that customers can receive more detailed information through it. Resist the temptation to place more information on your card than necessary, as space is limited and it’s easy to overcrowd a business card.

Helps Customers Remember You:

While it conveys the means for customers to be in touch with you, a business card also serves as a way for customers and colleagues to remember you after a first meeting. Because of this, many business owners place their photograph on their card to jog customers’ memories about the circumstances of their meeting. Other entrepreneurs leave the back of their card blank so that they can use it to write a personal message to its recipient, another mnemonic tool to help customers recall them merely by their card.

Relfects Your Company’s Values:

A business card is a piece of your company’s marketing plan, albeit a small one, so it should work with existing materials, such as letterhead and envelopes, to portray your company’s values and its approach to business. Because of this, design the card to convey the spirit of your company’s culture. For example, if you’re a graphic designer, you may favor a creative, eye-catching design, while a CPA firm might favor a more restrained, understated card that projects professionalism and stability.

Differentiates You From Competition:

It’s almost a given that your customers receive several business cards from your competitors. A smartly designed business card helps your company stand out among the crowd. Some entrepreneurs choose to use die cuts to create unusual shapes for their card, while others use perforations, folds and pop-ups to differentiate themselves. You don’t need to resort to gimmicks; a concise, direct and visually appealing card that projects your company’s identity is often as effective in differentiating a company as a novelty card.

Publishers and authors know how important cover design is to the success of a printed book, but ebook covers are often an afterthought. It wasn’t long ago that many ebooks, including titles from large publishers, had a simple text cover or no cover at all. Thankfully, most major ebook retailers would reject these ebooks now.

Like its print counterpart, an ebook’s cover is very important to its success. But some of the promotional work done by a printed book’s cover, such as endorsements, call-outs and subtitles, is now taken over by the ebook metadata. This is because:

  • Most text is unreadable on cover images that are displayed in selling situations, such as ebookseller websites
  • The text inside images is not searchable so the selling messages are lost when people are searching for ebooks

The ways and places that ebook covers are used differ from their bookshop counterparts but their impact on sales and quality ratings remains high.

An ideal ebook cover will frequently differ from its print counterpart designed to work well in-store because of these important differences in how and where they’re used. But many of the lessons from ebook covers can be applied to making better printed book covers that will improve their online sales.

What not to do:

Take a look at the email below. It was sent to members of the world’s largest social book site, Goodreads, which reaches more than 7 million book lovers making it a very important promotional opportunity. The thumbnail cover images had to do all of the promotional work (a common thing in the digital marketing world).

How many of these covers missed this great selling opportunity because you really couldn’t tell anything about them from their covers? The single biggest reason for their failure is that they were taken straight from their print book covers without any thought to how they would translate in the digital world.

So here are a few tips on ebook cover design, highlighting ways that it differs from printed book covers — and things that might help your print cover designs too.
