Topographic Surveying

Get Latest Price

Topographic Survey is a survey that measures the elevation of points on a particular piece of land, and presents them as contour lines on a plot. The purpose of a Topographic Survey is to gather survey data using Total Stations, Auto levels, GPS etc., about the natural and man-made features of the land, as well as its elevations. From this information a three- dimensional map may be prepared. You may prepare the topographic map in the office after collecting the field data or prepare it right away in the field by plane table. The work usually consists of the following:

  • Establishing horizontal and vertical control that will serve as the framework of the survey
  • Determining enough horizontal location and elevation of ground points to provide enough data for plotting when the map is prepared.
  • Locating natural and man-made features that may be required by the purpose of the survey.
  • Computing distances, angles, and elevations.
  • Drawing the topographic map. Topographic surveys are commonly identified with horizontal and/or vertical control of third- and lower-order accuracies.

Cadastral Surveysing Services

Cadastral Surveys are conducted to establish the exact location, boundaries, or subdivision of a tract of land in any specified area. This type of survey requires professional registration in all states. Presently, land surveys generally consist of the following chores:
  • Establishing markers or monuments to define and thereby preserve the boundaries of land belonging to a private concern, a corporation, or the government.
  • Relocating markers or monuments legally established by original surveys. This requires examining previous survey records and retracing what was done. When some markers or monuments are missing, they are re -established following recognized procedures, using whatever information is available.
  • Rerunning old land survey lines to determine their lengths and directions. As a result of the high cost of land, old lines are premeasured to get more precise measurements.
  • Subdividing landed estates into parcels of predetermined sizes and shapes.
  • Calculating areas, distances, and directions and preparing the land map to portray the survey data so that it can be used as a permanent record.

Urban, city, and town planning is the integration of the disciplines of land use planning and transport planning, to explore a very wide range of aspects of the built and social environments of urbanized municipalities and communities.

Urban and Regional Planning: Policy, strategies and proposals: integrating economic and spatial development

Master Planning: Land use planning and Zonal Regulations, integrating land use planning with socio-economic geographies and transportation and environment concerns

Planning tools: Land pooling, Coordinated Planning Schemes, Transfer of Development Rights, Heritage Conservation.

  • Urban Design

Design of Precincts: Neighbourhoods, commercial/business districts, industrial layouts, Mixed use townships, SEZs; Environmental design of regional green networks including forests, wetlands, valleys, swales, tanks and its precincts, regional and city level parks, green field sites; Public transport networks, urban planning and design for their stations/ terminuses and their precincts; Design tools and mechanisms for sustainable urban renewal of existing areas; Heritage and tourism plans and urban design of specific areas.

  • Training and Capacity Building

Institutional strengthening is a key competence in Marvel Geospatial. The success of an Enterprise GIS project carried out for an organization often revolves around an extensive capacity building exercise.

Route Survey

The term route survey refers to surveys necessary for the location and construction of lines of transportation or communication that continue across country for some distance, such as highways, railroads, open-conduit systems, pipelines, and power/telecom lines. Generally, the preliminary survey for this work takes the form of a topographic survey. In the final stage, the work may consist of the following:

  • Locating the center line, usually marked by stakes at required intervals called stations
  • Determining elevations along and across the center line for plotting profile and cross sections
  • Plotting the profile and cross sections and fixing the grades
  • Computing the volumes of earthwork and pre paring a mass diagram
  • Staking out the extremities for cuts and fills
  • Determining drainage areas to be used in the design of ditches and culverts·  Laying out structures, such as bridges and culverts 8.
  • Locating right-of-way boundaries, as well as staking out fence lines, if necessary

Control Survey

Control surveys establish a common, consistent network of physical points that are the basis for controlling the horizontal and vertical positions of transportation improvement projects and facilities. Corridor control surveys ensure that adjacent projects have compatible control. Project control surveys provide consistent and accurate horizontal and vertical control for all subsequent project surveys - photogrammetric, mapping, planning, design, construction, and right of way.

We offer following Control surveys:

  • Horizontal Corridor Control Surveys
  • Horizontal Project Control Surveys
  • Vertical Project Control Surveys
  • Supplemental Control

Horizontal project control surveys shall be performed for all  utility projects to define the geographic positions of project facilities.horizontal project control shall be established using GPS surveys complying with accuracy standard. When GPS survey methods cannot be used for all or part of a Horizontal Project Control Survey, a Total Station Survey System (TSSS) traverse network meeting accuracy standard is acceptable.

Vertical project control surveys shall be based on a single, common vertical datum to ensure that various phases of a project and contiguous projects are consistent.Vertical Project Control can be established using the following methods:

  • Differential leveling
  • Trigonometric leveling
  • GPS can be used to bring NAVD88 to a project

Supplemental control surveys are undertaken to densify project control surveys. Supplemental control is used for establishing photogrammetric control, locating terrain data for engineering surveys, establishing setup points for construction staking, locating land net monuments, and setting right of way monuments. Supplemental control points may be used for both horizontal and vertical control.
Vertical Project Control can be established using the following methods:
  • Differential leveling
  • Trigonometric leveling
  • GPS can be used to bring NAVD88 to a project
