WOLY brand history <p>Passion for shoe care&nbsp;<br /><br /><b>1861</b><br />Inspired by his business travels, Adolf Sutter sought better protection and care for heavily used footwear. He set up shop in Oberhofen in the Swiss canton of Thurgau and started manufacturing shoe polish &ndash; with success: The product impressed customers with its efficiency and received several awards for quality.<br /><b><br />1931</b><br />An assortment of special shoe care products was launched under the brand name Woly. The line&rsquo;s flagship product was WOLY emulsion cream in a glass jar. This product has been continuously refined ever since, while its basic formulation stays the same.<br /><br /><b>1932-1990</b><br />From a chip-wood box to a tube with sponge applicator &ndash; with experience and constant innovation, a wide variety of products has been created to cover all aspects of leather care: cleaning, conditioning, polishing, waterproofing and colour refreshing. Not only the formulations, but also the application techniques were developed further in this process. WOLY established itself as a trustworthy expert for leather and textile care.<br /><b><br />1991</b><br />Melvo GmbH acquired the WOLY trademark rights. Since then, it&rsquo;s quality made in Germany.<br /><br /><b>1992</b><br />New packaging featuring modern shoe designs brought WOLY up to date with fashion. The brand&rsquo;s success continued: by then, WOLY was offering products to put a spring in your step in 40 countries and counting.<br /><br /><b>2002</b><br />2002 saw WOLY&rsquo;s introduction to the German market. At the same time, another packaging relaunch took place, complementing the brand with a line of convenience items including insoles, shoe trees and shoelaces.<br /><br /><b>2011</b><br />A comprehensive packaging relaunch gives WOLY a modern, high-profile image and sets new standards in usability and environmental protection.
