Epilux 4 should be applied over a suitable primer or build coat. For recoating, the underlying system should be intact, sound and undamaged.
• Ensure that the surface to be over-coated is clean, dry, free from dust, grease and oil, or any other surface contaminants.




• A fresh water wash must follow to remove all soluble salts.
• Always ensure that the maximum over-coating time for the primer/build coat is not been exceeded prior to application.

Application procedure

The hardener component of this product must be mixed thoroughly with the base component and allowed to pre-react (induct) for a period of 15 minutes before proceeding to application. Without pre-reaction, this product may result in a greasy/tacky surface, incomplete cure and/or discolouration.

MIO is a type of iron oxide similar to mica, a highly structured, layered mineral. As MIO pigments are ground into smaller, finer particles, they tend to stick to their surfaces, exposing smooth, shiny faces which behave like tiny mirrors. It was found that MIO coatings and paints produces excellent anti-corrosion paint. It is used as the primary ingredient in some protective coatings and primers because of its anti-corrosive properties. When attached to the coating and applied to the substrate, flakes align parallel to the surface providing an impermeable barrier to air, oxygen and chemicals. The flakes are highly weather-resistant and powerful UV absorbers

pilux 455 High Build MIO Coating

USES  : Suitable for protection of steel structures in aggressive coastal and industrial atmosphere. Applications include ship loaders, hopper conveyors, silos, storage tanks, pipelines and general structurals in fertilizer plants, refineries, petrochemicals, engineering industries, etc.

SCOPE  : A high build epoxy coating re-inforced with Micaceous Iron Oxide (MIO) designed for application on structural steel. Utilised as an intermediate or finish in epoxy systems, it is known for its high abrasion resistance and excellent water impermeability and can be overcoated even after months of exposure.
