The primary application of glycerin is in the food and beverage industry, where it is employed as a humectant, sweetener, and as a solvent. It is also used as a preservative for the storage of food items. Glycerin can be used as a moisturiser, solvent, and as a sweetener in food and beverages. This compound can also help preserve certain foods. Glycerin is also known to be used in commercially packaged low-fat foods (such as cookies) as a filler. Furthermore, this compound is also known to be used in liqueurs as a thickening agent. In order to protect some forms of plant leaves, glycerol and water can be used. It has approximately 27 kilocalories per teaspoon as a sugar substitute (sugar is known to have 20) and is 60 per cent as sweet as sucrose. Therefore, glycerin is a great sugar substitute. Furthermore, this compound does not nourish the plaque-forming bacteria that produce dental cavities. Glycerin is moderately antimicrobial and antiviral and can therefore be used for wound treatment. An 85 percent glycerin solution is known to show bactericidal and antiviral effects, and glycerin-treated wounds generally display decreased inflammation after an approximate timeframe of 2 hours. Because of this, it is commonly used in wound care materials, including hydrogel sheets based on glycerin for burns and other wound care products. With the exception of third-degree burns, glycerin is licenced for all forms of wound treatment and is used to package the donor skin that is used in skin grafts. It can also be noted that there is no authorised topical therapy for third-degree burns and this restriction is also not limited to glycerin.

Propylene glycol is widely used as a solvent in drug manufacturing. This means that it’s used to dissolve other substances (usually solid) without changing their fundamental structure or composition. Propylene glycol is also used as a carrier in drug formulations. Active ingredients can be formulated in it and delivered to the body through it. Finally, it is used to dilute and stabilize medicines. Propylene glycol can be used in different forms of drugs including oral drugs like capsules and tablets, topical drugs like creams and gels, and intravenous (injected) drugs. Propylene glycol is a commonly found ingredient in cosmetic, personal, and skin care products. It is in anywhere from 26.4% to 37.8% of registered personal care products. Propylene glycol is a versatile substance and carries out many functions in the product formulations its included in. Propylene glycol is safe for consumption and the FDA approves its use in food at certain concentrations. It may form up to 97% of the contents of seasonings and flavorings, 24% of confections and frosting, and 5% of alcoholic beverages and nuts/nut products. For dairy products and all other food products, the maximum concentrations of propylene glycol are 2.5%, and 2% respectively.

Maltodextrin Powder is a white, hygroscopic, spray-dried carbohydrate polymer derived from the partial hydrolysis of starch (typically from corn, rice, potato, or wheat), featuring a low Dextrose Equivalent (DE) value generally below 20 which results in minimal sweetness and mild flavor characteristics. It is highly soluble in water, acts as a effective bulking, thickening, or filling agent, and provides smooth texture and improved mouthfeel in a wide range of food, beverage, pharmaceutical, and sports nutrition products. Due to its rapid digestibility and neutral taste, it is commonly used as a carbohydrate source in energy drinks, infant formulas, and instant powders, as well as a carrier for flavors and sweeteners, while also enhancing shelf life and product stability.
