the Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering department, established in the year 1994, is presently functioning under the inspiring leadership of Dr.B.Sankaragomathi, Professor and Head who has a teaching experience of more than twenty eight years, assisted by seventeen dedicated faculty members of high caliber.

Four faculty members are with Ph.D. qualification. Six faculty members are pursuing Ph.D., Research works in various thrust areas are being carried out. The faculty members have presented research papers in National and International Conferences

INTRODUCTION

The Department came in to being in the year 1984 and initially was steered by late Prof.S.Kannappan. The un-tired efforts of the predecessors had brought in highly integrated and motivated staff strength and an excellent working atmosphere.The department today has comprises of sophisticated laboratory and workshop facilities ensuring on par with standards of global technical education.

The department is presently headed by Dr.K.Kalidasa Murugavel. The department, as on date has 34 dedicated and experienced staff members with 7 doctoral degree holders and the remaining with their PG qualifications.

The staff members have more than 15 years of teaching and research experience. Currently, under graduate course in Mechanical Engineering and post graduations in M.E. (Manufacturing Engineering) and M.E. (Energy Engineering) are being conducted by the department. The department has well furnished class rooms and an air conditioned seminar hall.

To produce Electronics and Communication Engineers capable of generating a knowledge economy with social responsibility.

The Department came into being in 1984 since the inception of the college. The Department has 547 pentium and above computers accommodated in 9 computer centres with recent software and internet facility to feed the art of computer science to our budding engineers. Our computer centre is kept open even after the college hours to help the students to raise their programming skills using current and latest software tools. Students are permitted to utilize the computer centre during all the morning, evening session and also on saturdays for increasing their programming skill using conventional and latest software tools. Students can surf into internet from 7.00 AM to 8.00 PM.

The B.Tech Information Technology programme was started in the year 2001.The Department also offers M.E Computer& Communication programme. The Department has stable and experienced staff members. The department is well equipped with advanced laboratories like Network Management Lab, Programming Lab, RDBMS Lab and Software Project Lab. This department is fully accommodated with modern Hardware and Software accessibility to cater to the academic needs of students and staff. The entire campus is connected through OFC and sophisticated Internet facilities provided for academic and research work.

The faculty members are actively engaged in research activities in the areas like Image Processing, Wireless Communication, Network security, Texture Analysis, Mobile Ad-hoc Networks, Parallel Computing, Artificial Intelligence, Data Mining, Real Time Systems, Distributed and Object Oriented Computing.
