A very common fitting in pipelines is a strainer to trap and remove physical contaminations and impurities from pipelines. Although simple in construction, a Strainer needs critical designs to ensure that the pressure drop is minimum and the screening area is adequate. UKL strainers are available in Y type and T type design in CI and CS versions. Filter screens are in SS 304/316 material. End connections can me made to suit specific demands. Screen area and the perforations can be offered in various combinations to suit individual needs. Blowdown plug or cock are available as option for online cleaning of filter element.

Almost every industry has liquids stored in tanks for use in the plant. These tanks have to have the measure of the stock of these liquids stored. Usually this measurement is done either by dip sticks or by gauge glasses fitted on the tanks.

When the tanks are pressurized, the level measurement by gauge glass is not all that easy. Either there is a visibility problem or the liquid is transparent making visibility difficult. Add to this the pressure and temperature of the liquid contained in the tank. In such cases proper care has to be taken to select the gauge glasses to be provided on the tank.

Reflex Gauges

  • These work on the principle of difference in reflective indices of liquid in the tank and possible presence of gas with the liquid. The liquid will be black display while the gas or vapor will be white display.

Transparent Gauges

  • These gauges use transparent glasses on both sides enclosed in metal case. As the glasses are transparent they display the color of the liquid inside to show level of the liquid in the tank.

Bicolor Gauges

  • For high pressure fluids like steam, the gauge glasses have optical separation of colors displayed on the wedge shaped centre piece glass. UKL Liquid Level Gauges are supplied with standard centre to centre distances.They can also be tailor made to specific ctc requirements. These can be supplied as complete assembly with mica sheet and gaskets.

Compressed Air Traps

Drain traps for steam and such condensing media are most common and well known applications. However, for non-condensing gases, removal of condensed fluid is not so easy. A trap may get vapor locked in such applications. UKL traps for compressed air and such other non-condensable gases take good care of this possibility in their unique design.

 

Made in Cast Iron and Cast Steel bodies with SS internals, these traps are provided with soft seating to minimize leakage possibilities. For special applications UKL traps are made in different grades of stainless steel body and internals. Standard applications include CA, Ammonia, Dowtherm, CO2, Nitrogen and Hydrogen service.

Function: A special liquid contained within the capsule evaporates or condenses due to changes in temperature. The operating temperature in only a few degrees below the boiling point of water. When the temperature rises, the liquid evaporates and the valve closes: when the temperature drops, the liquid condenses and the valve opens.

Special Characteristics: Due to the very slight temperature drop, accumulation of the condensate is reduced.The capsule reacts to temperature changes immediately. The system ensures prevention of loses in live and control steam and is insensitive to water hammer and back pressure.
