Fermentation Technology Systems is a State of the ArtSystem which generatesabout 40% more biogas compared to a conventional system. Optimal generation of biogas is achieved due to the use of two separate, first for the process of hydrolysis or acidogensis and the other for methanogenesis. The feedstock could be either one or a combination of the following:

  • Sludge generated from sewage treatment plants.
  • Organic waste generated from vegetable markets.
  • Green waste generated from agricultural fields.

Municipal solid waste is subjected to thermal cracking through a process of incineration, gasification or pyrolysis. Gasification or indirect combustion is the chemical conversion, at high temperatures, of solid waste material containing carbon atoms into fuel or synthetic gas through gas forming reactions. The gas may consist of carbon monoxide, hydrogen and methane also known as synthetic gas (Syngas). This syngas can be used to manufacture chemicals and can be used as fuel in place of natural gas for power generation.

The syngas coming out of the gasifier is combusted in a thermal oxidizer to combust volatile organic compounds. The flue gas then enters a boiler where steam is generated. The steam can be used for electrical power generation or for drying, air conditioning and cooling purposes. This simultaneous production of cooling, heating and power in one process is known as “Tri-generation.” The tri-generation energy process produces four different forms of energy from the primary energy source, namely, hot water, steam, cooling (chilled water) and power generation (electrical energy). The system could be a centralized system of large capacity treating the waste generated from cities and in turn using the energy to produce electricity.

Membrane Bioreactor or MBR is an activated sludge process that utilizes a physical barrier, the membrane, to filter contaminants from effluent. Utilizing submerged membranes eliminates the need for secondary clarification and tertiary filtration. By decoupling the activated sludge process from the settling characteristics of suspended solids (Mixed suspended Solids), the footprint of an effluent treatment process can be halved or even further lessened. In addition, an MBR is ideally suited for biological nutrient removal (BNR) applications as coagulated metal salts are easily filtered and captured phosphorous collected as waste activated sludge (WAS).

ELFLOX® treatment is based on separation of the organic pollution from community wastewater with electrocoagulation (ECF reactor). Electrocoagulation is a technology which consists of pairs of metal sheets called electrodes, that are arranged in pairs of two—anodes and cathodes. When the cathode electrode makes contact with the wastewater, the metal is emitted into the apparatus. By applying an electrical field, the charged particles are attracted and move to the electrodes. Particles are concentrated there and oriented so that coagulation becomes possible. The resulting organic sludge of the ECF reactor is sedimented in a circular sedimentation vessel which then fed to anaerobic reactor which converts the organic compound into Biogas.

This technology removes suspended solids, heavy metals, biological fouling matters, oil and fat/water emulsions, hardness, colour, organics such as bacteria and viruses in water. Not only are the toxic heavy metals like mercury, cadmium,  wiped out, but also Gold, Silver, wolframite, vanadium are wiped out. Everything is removed, often more than 20-30 times better than that required by governmental regulations.
