Dorzox eye drops contain the active ingredient dorzolamide, which is a carbonic anhydrase inhibitor used to reduce intraocular pressure (IOP) in the eyes. It is primarily used in the treatment of glaucoma and ocular hypertension.
Uses:- Glaucoma: Dorzox is used to treat elevated intraocular pressure in patients with open-angle glaucoma, a condition that can lead to progressive vision loss if untreated.
- Ocular Hypertension: Used to reduce elevated intraocular pressure in patients without glaucoma but who are at risk of developing the condition.
Dorzolamide works by inhibiting the enzyme carbonic anhydrase in the ciliary processes of the eye. This inhibition reduces the production of aqueous humor (the fluid in the eye), thereby lowering intraocular pressure.
Dosage and Administration:- The usual dose is one drop in the affected eye(s) three times daily.
- To apply the eye drops:
- Wash your hands thoroughly.
- Tilt your head back and pull down the lower eyelid to create a small pocket.
- Hold the dropper above the eye and squeeze out a drop.
- Close your eye and gently press on the inner corner for about 1-2 minutes to prevent the medication from draining away.
- Avoid touching the dropper tip to any surface, including your eye, to prevent contamination.
- If using other eye medications, wait at least 10 minutes between applying each medication.
Common side effects include:
- Burning or stinging sensation in the eye upon application
- Bitter taste in the mouth
- Eye discomfort or itching
- Blurred vision
- Dry eyes
- Tearing
More serious side effects can include:
- Eye pain or redness
- Signs of an allergic reaction (rash, itching, swelling, severe dizziness, difficulty breathing)
- Severe eye irritation
- Inform your healthcare provider if you have any allergies, especially to sulfonamide medications, as dorzolamide is a sulfonamide derivative.
- Patients with a history of kidney or liver disease should use dorzolamide with caution.
- Remove contact lenses before applying the eye drops and wait at least 15 minutes before reinserting them, as the preservative in the drops can be absorbed by soft contact lenses.
- Inform your healthcare provider of any other medications you are taking to avoid potential interactions.
- Known hypersensitivity to dorzolamide or any of its components.
- Severe kidney impairment.
- Store at room temperature, away from moisture and heat.
- Keep the bottle tightly closed when not in use.
- Do not use the drops if the liquid has changed color or become cloudy.
- Keep out of reach of children.
- Use Dorzox exactly as prescribed by your healthcare professional.
- Do not exceed the recommended dosage.
- Regular follow-up appointments are essential to monitor intraocular pressure and the effectiveness of the treatment.
Dorzox eye drops should be used under the supervision of a healthcare professional, with strict adherence to the prescribed dosage and application technique. Regular monitoring of intraocular pressure is essential to ensure the medication's effectiveness and to prevent potential complications associated with elevated intraocular pressure.

Bimat eye drops contain the active ingredient bimatoprost, which is a prostaglandin analog used to lower intraocular pressure (IOP) in patients with certain eye conditions. It is primarily used in the treatment of glaucoma and ocular hypertension.
Uses:- Glaucoma: Bimat is used to reduce elevated intraocular pressure in patients with open-angle glaucoma, a condition that can lead to progressive vision loss if untreated.
- Ocular Hypertension: It is also used to reduce elevated intraocular pressure in patients at risk of developing glaucoma.
Bimatoprost works by increasing the outflow of aqueous humor (the fluid in the eye), which helps to lower intraocular pressure. It mimics the action of natural prostaglandins in the eye to enhance the drainage of this fluid through the trabecular meshwork and uveoscleral pathway.
Dosage and Administration:- The typical dose is one drop in the affected eye(s) once daily in the evening.
- To apply the eye drops:
- Wash your hands thoroughly.
- Tilt your head back and pull down the lower eyelid to create a small pocket.
- Hold the dropper above the eye and squeeze out a drop.
- Close your eye and press your finger to the inner corner of the eye for about 1-2 minutes to prevent the medication from draining away.
- Avoid touching the dropper tip to any surface, including your eye, to prevent contamination.
