SORAFENIB 200MG contains Sorafenib which belongs to the group of medicines called antineoplastic agents. It is used to treat liver and thyroid cancer.
Sorafenib is a tyrosine kinase inhibitor that acts by decreasing the proliferation of tumor cells. It inhibits various intracellular and cell surface kinases, that are responsible for tumor growth, tumor cell signaling, angiogenesis and arrests blood supply to the cancer cells which results in apoptosis (death of cells).
Sorafenib may cause a condition that affects the heart rhythm (QT prolongation). QT prolongation can rarely cause serious (rarely fatal) fast/irregular heartbeat and other symptoms (such as severe dizziness, fainting) that need medical attention right away.
