Alopecia is also known as spot baldness and is an autoimmune disorder in which hair is lost from some or all parts of the body, usually from scalp due to the body’s failure to recognize its own body cells and destroys its own tissues as if it were an invader.
Pitha pacification is the primary ayurvedic hair loss treatment via necessary pitha pacification diet and pitha reducing ayurvedic medication. Iron deficiency if exists also has to be corrected. Food and medicines with bitter and sweet in potency are very good for pacifying pitha dosha.
Ayurvedic medicated hair oil which contains Malti(Jasminum grandifolium )is highly effective for alopecia.
Ayurvedic tonics and powders for liver strengthening and blood purification also provide benefit in this condition.
Ayurvedic rasayana preparations for boosting iron level, increasing the bodily immune function and to nourish body tissues including bone tissues is a well-regarded method in ayurvedic therapy because ayurveda believes hair and nail as the bi-products of bone tissue formation.
Panchakarma as an alopecia treatment
Panchakarma essentially means five (pancha) remedial measures (karma) in which body is cleansed from an ayurvedic perspective. Panchakarma cleanse is usually seen as a supplement to the rest of the therapy for alopecia.
Specific areas of panchakarma suggested are Nasya, Ksheera vasthi (medicated enema particularly for severe pitha imbalance) and shirodhara (ayurvedic head massage) for balancing hormone and stress level.
Nasya is a nasal therapy or administration of ayurvedic medication through the nasal cavity. Nasya helps in elimination of toxins through the nose. Nasya is a very useful ayurvedic therapy for indications such as alopecia, premature greying, acne and sinusitis.
Virechana is a medical purgation therapy and is helpful in reducing excess pitha dosha which is excellent in management of alopecia.
Ksheeravasthi is a type of vasthi therapy with milk. This is helpful in reducing pitha dosha. Vasthi is a soothing treatment for vata dosha and it also promotes bone tissue formation.
Shirodhara: Your practitioner gently pours a continuous stream of warm medicated oil over forehead for about 30 to 60 minutes. In some other special situations, oil is replaced with medicated herbal liquids. Shirodhara is indicated for baldness, hair loss and greying of hair.
Hypertension is also known as high blood pressure or arterial hyper tension is a chronic medical condition in which the blood pressure in the arteries is persistentently elevated.
According to Ayurveda, high blood pressure involves all the doshas, the heart, and the blood vessels. We can see signs and symptoms of derangement of vata dosha mainly that of ‘Vyana vayu’ in high blood pressure. The treatment is to correct the balance of vata dosha.Pitta vitiation is also seen often and should be treated.
People with Pitta and Vata predominant constitution and Pitta and Vata imbalance, are more prone to hypertension than any other. Unprocessed anger, frustration, irritability, anxiety and fear leads to mal-adaptation of the endocrine system, which then leads to conditions like hypertension. Treatment is based on bringing these imbalances back to normal. In the treatment of hypertension; nutrition, exercise, breathing exercises (Pranayama), yoga, meditation, behavioral modification along with various herbs and minerals are prescribed.
