Calcutta Chess Academy is meant for conducting Chess Coaching classes for children of Kolkata & surroundings. This Academy has been conducting chess coaching classes for children (5 to 15 years) since the year 1992.
During the past 23 years, this Academy has trained up a number of Champions in State, National & International levels. Coaching Classes are being conducted in scientific method and in a homely atmosphere. Calcutta Chess Academy is headed by the famous Chess Coach Sri Shyamol Dutta, who is the only N.I.S.-trained Chess Coach of West Bengal. Sri Shyamol Dutta, a former National-A player & an Ex-State Champion, is the pioneer chess coach who introduced group chess coaching for the first time in India 39 years back.
Our objective is to promote and popularize the game of Chess among the children of Bengal.
RECENT SUCCESSES OF C.C.A.:-
# Miss Khushi Dharewa, a student of CCA, became NATIONAL UNDER-7 CHAMPION in January 2009 in her first attempt. She won GOLD MEDAL in ASIAN UNDER-8 GIRLS' CHESS CHAMPIONSHIP 2009 held in August,2009, also in her first attempt, thus creating a record in the history of West Bengal Chess.
# The team of Calcutta Chess Academy became CHAMPION in All Bengal Team Chess Championship, 2008 held in December, 2008 at Salt Lake, Kolkata.
# Chandreyee Hajra, Khushi Dharewa & Mehendi Sil, students of Calcutta Chess Academy, have recently become Champions in State Under-11, Under-9 & Under-7 Championships for 2010 respectively.
# Prantik Roy, a student of CCA, has become State Junior Champion in May, 2010.
# Chandreyee Hajra (U-12 Girl),Khushi Dharewa (U-10 Girl), Sudarshan Mitra (U-10 Boy), Samriddha Ghosh(U-8 Girl) & Mehendi Sil (U-6 Girl) have become group Champions in CHESS FOR YOUTH - 2010.
# Master Prantik Roy, a student of CCA, has achieved his 2nd International Master Norm at Chennai International Open held in January, 2011.
