Reserve Bank of India governor Raghuram Rajan continued to remain in the second trading session on Monday, with the possibility of a hike in policy rates to curb inflation and the Sensex down 363 points to below 20000 points .
Shares of banking and realty companies, which are more heavily influenced by the rise in interest rates, have declined. In the fall of the Sensex, HDFC, ICICI Bank and HDFC Bank contributed 155 points. The Sensex of the Bombay Stock Exchange closed with a loss of 200 points to end at 19900.96 with 362.75 points or 1.79 percent decline. During the business, it continued to span between 19826.30 to 20199.81 points.The Sensex dropped 383 points on Friday, after the Reserve Bank increased the repo rate from 7.25 to 7.50 percent. In two sessions, the Sensex has lost 745.68 points.Likewise, the National Stock Exchange's Nifty closed at 1288.05 points, down 122.35 points, or 2.04 per cent, to 5889.79. At one point it was down to the lower level of 5871.40 points. In the previous session, the Nifty was down 103.45 points.MCX-SX's SX40 index closed down by 206.17 points at 11820.24 points. IT stocks like Wipro, Infosys and TCS saw an upsurge in rupee weakness. In the afternoon trade, the rupee was falling at 62.6 dollars per dollar.
