Ceftazidime Injection IP Overview:

• Drug Class: Antibiotic (Third-generation Cephalosporin)
• Purpose: Treats bacterial infections by interfering with cell wall synthesis in susceptible bacteria.
• Formulation: Available as a sterile powder for reconstitution into solution for injection.
• Administration: Administered intravenously or intramuscularly.
• Indications:
  • Used for treating severe bacterial infections such as pneumonia, urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, and intra-abdominal infections.
  • Effective against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria.
• Dosage:
  • Dosage varies based on the type and severity of infection, as well as patient's weight and renal function.
  • Typically administered every 8 to 12 hours.
• Precautions:
  • Use caution in patients with known hypersensitivity to cephalosporins or penicillins.
  • Monitor renal function, especially in patients with pre-existing renal impairment.
  • Use with caution in patients with a history of gastrointestinal diseases, particularly colitis.
• Contraindications:
