Department of Pulmonary diseases caters to patients with symptoms related to lungs, breathing, allergies and sleep disorders. There is a well- equipped setup with a dedicated sleep laboratory suite, endoscopy laboratory and pulmonary function laboratory. In a month, we treat more than 1200 patients on outpatient basis and more than 300 patients on inpatient basis. The usual diagnostic modalities in the department are pulmonary function test, skin allergy test and bronchoscopy. Under the guidance of our senior consultants, a strong DNB program has been flourishing wherein approximately 10 efficient DNB students at a time are trained in our super speciality, who all form an important link for continued medical care. Thereby, regular clinico-radiological and clinico-pathological conferences are being conducted to enhance the clinical approach and also the research work.

Lilavati Hospital and Research Centre is run and managed by Public Charitable Trust - Lilavati Kirtilal Mehta Medical Trust which was formed in 1978. The Trust was settled by late Shri Kirtilal Manilal Mehta. The Trust has engaged in innumerable charitable endeavors across India.
Shri Kirtilal Manilal Mehta was born in Palanpur on February 7, 1907. He lost his father when he was just 12, and soon joined the family business in Rangoon, Burma. Shri Mehta set up an independent business in Mumbai under the name Kirtilal Manilal Mehta. Seeing the potential in the export of diamonds, he pioneered the entry of the Indian community into Antwerp. Shri Mehta received a number of honors including an Award in 1973 for being a Leading Exporter from the Government of India, and an Outstanding Exporter Award from the President of Israel. Shri Mehta was decorated by the King of Belgium in 1991. Shri Mehta was the first ever Indian to be decorated "Officer of the Order of Leopold" by His Majesty the King of Belgium. He was also honored by the Nawab of Palanpur.
