Our body needs a healthy dose of copper, but like everything too much is not good for your health. Copper is not absorbed instantaneoulsy into water, but when water is sitting in copper minute amounts of copper do leach into the water. People with copper sensitivity, Wilson's disease, or who are concerned about their zinc levels should not let water sit in the bottle for more than a few hours. The United States Food and Drug Administration maintains that 2 milligrams of copper per day is all you need. More than that and you could suffer side effects.
Copper in healthy amounts can aid digestive disorders, assist our bodies in the absorption of iron, regulate functioning of the thyroid gland, enable melanin production to protect the body from sun damage, and stimulate cell regeneration in skin and joints. You may already be receiving sufficient copper from your food. Many households in older areas may have their water delivered via copper pipes so you may be already receiving some copper intake from your water.
Do not leave water in the bottle for more than 8 to 10 hours. Do not use the bottle constantly as your everyday water bottle. Always seek advice from a health professional about your copper intake.
Do not store any citrus, pickled or fermented liquids, milk or juice in the copper bottle.
Rinse before use and remove the clove inside. Hand wash only.
