The cornea is your eye's clear, protective outer layer which, along with the sclera (the white of your eye), serves as a barrier against dirt, germs, and all that can cause damage to your vision. The-light that enters your eyes gets refracted or bent by the cornea's curved edge which helps determine how well your eyes can focus on objects that are up close and far away. If your cornea is damaged it might block or distort the-light that enters your eye, causing trouble with your vision.

We at MediVision offer Corneal transplantation, which involves replacement of a damaged or diseased cornea with healthy tissue from a donor. The surgery is performed in conditions where the transparency and refractive power of the cornea is lost.

The various types of procedures available are,

• DSEK: Descemet's Stripping Endothelial Keratoplasty is a corneal transplant technique in which the unhealthy, diseased, posterior portion of cornea is removed and replaced with healthy donor tissue.
• DALK: Deep Anterior Lamellar Keratoplasty is a partial-thickness cornea transplant procedure that involves selective transplantation of the corneal stroma, leaving the native Descemet membrane and endothelium just in place.
• PKP: Penetrating keratoplasty involves the removal and replacement of damaged and scarred corneas.
• The Cross linkage procedure(C3R): This procedure is performed using UV light and a photosensitizer to strengthen chemical bonds in the cornea. Progressive keratoconus and iatrogenic ectasia can be stabilized by corneal cross-linking.
• Refractive eye surgery: This surgery aims at improving the refractive state of the eye. It decreases and even eliminates dependency on glasses or contact lenses in many cases. There are various kinds of surgeries available for correcting refractive errors in the eyes.
