In the 1800’s, physically power-driven mechanical pressure were used to squeeze the oil from the cotton seed. But with modern mills and their state-of-the-art infrastructure, it is now possible to extract maximum quantity of cotton seed oil from cotton seed. The processing of cotton seed at amar ginning & pressing factory involves a number of steps. For every cotton seed that comes out of our factory, we follow a definite sequence of a germ-free process as follows:
- once the raw cotton is cleaned and automatically fed for machine cleaning, the cotton seeds are instantly detached from the main stream line process.
- the next step is entry into shaker room where, through a number of screens and air blowing equipments, leaves, twigs and other junk are isolated.
* carried over to the gin stands, de-lintning of the cleaned cotton seed happens.
* the lintning process is usually done twice and the fibers are simultaneously collected and pressed into bales.
* based on quality, the linters are classified into two namely; first-cut linters and second-cut linters, where the former is of longer elastic fibers and the later is of short fibers.
* the delinted seeds then go through a huller; the huller separates the hull and kernel.
* kernel is the inside tissue of the seed that is rich in oil and hull is the tough outer coat of the seed that is removed.
