Di-Sodium Hydrogen Citrate is a urine alkalizer & used in the treatment of gout and kidney stone. It works by increasing the pH of urine which makes it less acidic. This helps the kidneys get rid of excess uric acid, thereby preventing certain types of kidney stones. Common side effects of disodium hydrogen citrate are diarrhea, nausea, stomach pain, vomiting or tiredness. Citric acid and citrate salts which contain potassium and sodium belong to a class of drugs known as urinary alkalinizers.
