Fashion design is a sunrise industry in India. It is about a 1000 crore
in size today, but according to ASSOCHAM, the industry will cross the Rs
11,000 crore mark by 2020. What drive the growth are the increase in
purchasing power and the willingness of people to spend for designer
wear that would fit their personal style.
The number of job openings for fashion designers is expected to grow
strongly. For people with a fascination for fashion, it is the right
time to get trained in the design process - from creating mood board to
selecting fabrics to promotion, and launch their career.
Course Objective
The course aims to teach all skills and knowledge
that go into making professional designers of catwalk and high-street
fashion. This flexible, part-time program helps students learn what is
taught in degree courses of fashion technology institutes.
Curriculum
The curriculum covers entire fashion design process from color
to embellishments, and keeps the creative momentum with challenging
projects and group assignments.
Students learn right from the design process involving: colour,
silhouette, proportion, fabric, print, pattern, texture, sampling and
construction; the prototyping stage of flat pattern cutting, toile
modeling, structure, and embellishment till the promotion of the design
such as product and portfolio promotion/graphics and photographic
styling.

The learning is supported with adequate practice sessions aided by
lectures, seminars and workshops. Leading fashion merchandisers, fashion
designers, fashion stylists and manufacturers address students on
latest trends and techniques.
Student projects include construction of a complete set (top &
bottom) of men's wear, women's wear and kid's wear. Students maintain
fabric swatch books, create collections and present them as portfolios
comprising mood board, color board, story board and illustrations.
Eligibility
SSLC or 10th pass is desirable. However, anyone who is interested in creative design can take up this course.
Studio Equipment:
The basic kit consisting of drawing equipment and supplies
helps the students to carry out the studio works efficiently.
