Glibenclamide 2.5 mg tablets are an oral antidiabetic medication belonging to the sulfonylurea class. It is primarily used for the management of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus in adults when diet, exercise, and weight reduction alone are insufficient to achieve adequate blood glucose control.

Mechanism of Action: Glibenclamide works by stimulating the beta cells in the pancreas to release more insulin. It achieves this by binding to specific receptors on these cells, which leads to the closure of ATP-sensitive potassium channels and subsequent depolarization of the cell membrane. This triggers the influx of calcium ions, promoting the exocytosis (release) of insulin granules. Indications:
