Introduction: Guduchi or Tinospora cordifolia, is a herb of the family Menispermaceae indigenous to the areas of India and Sri Lanka.It is a climbing shrub that grows in deciduous and dry forests. It has been used traditionally in Ayurvedic system of medicine as an immune modulator and immunity enhancing herb.
Indications: Tinosporic acid in the herb is the main active ingredient which is responsible for the therapeutic properties. It enhances White blood cells potency and inhibits pathogen growth thereby building the body's immunity to various kinds of chronic recurrent respiratory and skin infections. It also finds application in urinary tract disorders as a natural diuretic. In arthritis, it acts as an anti inflammatory. Guduchi also plays a hepato protective role in alcohol induced hepatitis.
