Heat shield- Hs-4201-6 is a Fire Retardant, double-side aluminum foil laminate with superior anti tear and puncture resistant properties. The superior unmatched technology for providing a fire retardant and ultra strong poly weave as reinforcement layer makes heat shield HS-4201-6 a unique, fire retardant, strong, durable & tear resistant radiant heat barrier. Heat shield ranges of radiant barriers are highly flexible & are washable using water jet spray.
WHY USE PRODUCTS WHICH HAVE NO EFFECT ON RADIATED HEAT?
There are 3 basic models of heat transfer: conduction, convection, and radiation. The sun heats up the tiles, bricks, and boards of a building. This occurrence radiates heat into the building. These invisible infrared radiant heat rays can penetrate roofs, ceilings, walls, doors, floors, and other materials. Nearly 87% of the total building heat is transferred through this radiation and is then balanced by conduction and convection. In this way, radiation is the most powerful cause of heat gain and loss in any building.
Conventional insulation products such as fiberglass, mineral wool, foam board, cellulose, etc. are effective against conduction and convection. However, they have no effect on “radiated heat transfers. They work by trapping small air pockets and reduce heat transfer by conduction and convection. The trapped air heats up and radiates this heat later into the building, sometimes for hours after sunset. Aluminum foil blocks 95 percent of heat radiation which is an ideal energy conservation material. An easy, effective and low cost solution of preventing the passage of radiant energy or solar heat into building is the use of foil radiant barrier to reflect heat back to its source.
