FireFly™ Micro Flyover System: The FireFly™ Micro Flyover System is the first interconnect system that gives designers a choice of using either micro footprint optical or copper interconnects to meet today’s data rate requirements and the next generation.
The patent pending FireFly™ system enables chip-to-chip, board-to-board and system-to-system connectivity at data rates up to 28 Gbps. FireFly™ is based on a high performance interconnect system which allows the utilization of low cost copper cables or high performance active optical engines.
By taking the data connections “off-board, the data routing of the board is made significantly easier, and the electrical performance improves. Allowing data to bypass the board and other components negates the need for the layout complexities that are required to design for data lane skew and impedance and eliminates the SI issues of having to route the signal through multiple vias and connectors.
