Munnar - Thekkady

Day 1: Arrive Kochi - Munnar
On your First day, your personal tour host will welcome you at the airport and Transfer to Munnar. Check in to your resort & spend the day with local sightseeing. Situated at the convergence of 3 mountain stream- Mudrapuzha, Nallathanni, and Kudale, Munnar is 1600 meter above sea level. Once the summer resort of the British in South india, Munnar is one of the states finest hill resorts. The specialities of Munnar are jungle honey, strawberries, tea and most rare flower Neela Kurunji which blooms once in a 12 years. Local Sightseeing of Munnar includes Tea plantation visit Kundala lake – Pallivasal – Mattupetty dam – Eco point. Overnight stay at Munnar Day 2: Munnar - Thekkady After breakfast, check out hotel and proceed to Thekkady. An area known for its undulating hills, spice plantations, and elephant sightings. One of the 27 tiger reserves in India, the Periyar valley in Thekkady is the oldest. Check into your hotel. You can go on a spice plantation tour today which is a huge draw for travelers from all over the world. A walk through them opens up a vista of pristine greenery shrouded by low hanging clouds, gurgling brooks and a pale shadow of the Western Ghats in the backdrop. You will be taken on tour of the cover, cardamom, pepper, rubber, vanilla, coffee and tea plantations. In addition to this, you can also be shown around tea factories, tribal settlements and the surrounding hilly region. Stroll amid lush, terraced farms, sprawling tea estates while listening to bird songs and the murmuring of mountain streams. Make stops along the way to take pictures of the verdant surroundings, and breathe in the fresh mountain air, before continuing to some of the most picturesque vantage points in Kerala. Overnight stay at Thekkady Day 3: Thekkady Today you can go for an escorted jungle trek. In the evening you can also visit Kalaripyattu centre in Periyar. Overnight stay at Thekkady Day 4: Thekkady – Kettuvalam (House Boat) After breakfast, check out and drive to Alleppey to embark on your private houseboat and cruise on the Backwaters, a splendid area full of canals, lakes and coves. Your houseboats or ‘Kettuvalloms’ are luxurious boats with well-appointed bedrooms and ensuite bathrooms. You can sunbathe on the deck or observe the palm fringed landscape from your cabins. Apart from the mesmerizing surroundings it’s the life along the coast that adds a touch of exotica to this experience.The locals’ travel in canoes and you will find vegetable sellers, fishermen and other traders bringing household goods, door to door in small wooden boats. As you cruise along the backwaters you can ask your captain to stop at villages, paddy fields and other places, enroute. Overnight on board Day 5: Depart Kochi Today is the last day of our tour. Your guide will drive you to Airport where you are expecting your flight back home. Five beautiful and richly-filled days came to an end.
