Papier Machie - A Kashmiri speciality, these products are priced reasonablely. They are light and easy to carry. Papier-Machie involves two techniques. the first is making the object and the second is painting the surface. Paper, cloth, rice straw and copper sulphate are grinded to pulp, which is moulded around a base shape. After the pulp is dried and hardened to the required shape, it is carefully cut from the mould with a fine saw. The two halves are then joined together again with glue and the surface is evened with an iron file.
