Dr. Rajasekar graduated from university of Madras with MBBS and Master of Surgery Degree. He was the best out going student in his batch of MS students from the University of Madras that year for which he received the Dr. U. Mohan Rao prize. He obtained his FRCS degree from the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh. He received advanced training in GI surgery, Laparoscopic surgery, Vascular Surgery and Organ Transplantation in the UK in subsequent ten years. He trained from reputed hospitals in the UK- St. James's University hospital, Leeds, Royal Victoria Infirmary, Newcastle Upon Tyne and the Guy's Hospital-London.
