Ocidom Capsule (Omeprazole 20 mg + Domperidone 10 mg) is a prescription combination used for treating gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and peptic ulcer disease. Omeprazole, a proton pump inhibitor, reduces stomach acid production. Domperidone, a prokinetic agent, improves gastric motility and accelerates stomach emptying, helping reduce symptoms like heartburn, nausea, bloating, and regurgitation . It is typically taken on an empty stomach, ideally 30 minutes before breakfast, swallowed whole without chewing .
Common side effects include diarrhea, abdominal discomfort, dry mouth, headache, and flatulence . Rarely, domperidone may prolong the QT interval and risk cardiac arrhythmias, especially in the elderly or those on interacting medications . Use with caution in liver or kidney impairment and in patients hypersensitive to either component .
