Climate: Warm and tropical.
Soil: Light, rich, moist and well drained.
green leaves. Leaves have finely scalloped margins. Small
lavender flowers are borne in spring and summer.
Medicinal: Relaxes spasm, reduces inflammation, benefits digestion. Internally
for coughs, bronchitis, asthma. Externally for headache, sores, burns
and insect bite.
Culinary: Indian borage, Cuban oregano likened in taste to ajwain. Leaves are
used to flavor beans, salads, meat and fish. Also infused as tea.
