VMW is not just an establishment, but a journey that commenced way back in 1935, by Mr. Govindji Gajjar. The pre-independence days when entrepreneurship was not just a challenge but a distant dream for many would not even think of visualizing, he had the rare and distinct courage to stand up against the variable odds to start a small undercapitalized Mechanical Works unit. The idea was conceived and finally mechanical works unit was established in Porbandar, on the western seaboard primarily famous for the Birth place of father of nation ‘Mahatma Gandhi’.

Initially the company provided engineering and related services to bigger industries in the area. The Management then moved to Late Mr. Satish Gajjar, who expanded the company in stature by leaps and bounds. He had the vision and experience to cater to ever growing challenging assignments, that came with the rapidly changing economy and fierce competition in the marine industry.

Subsequently, with the passage of time, the onus of responsibility to propel the company forward came on Mr. Ketan Gajjar, an educated and professional businessman who understands business domains well who has formulated forward looking policy for the company and has formed the renewed VISION of the company to take it to a global level.

As we note from the above, the VISIONARY touch has been blessed in the generation of the family that paved the way for the growth of this once small, now a major force in Engineering and Ship Building industry.
