Roscillin 500 mg Capsule contains ampicillin 500 mg, an antibiotic in the penicillin class used to treat bacterial infections. It is prescribed for infections caused by bacteria, not viruses, and helps eliminate the infection by interfering with the bacteria's ability to build its cell wall, which weakens and eventually destroys the bacteria. This action makes the medicine effective against a broad range of infections affecting several body systems. Common conditions treated with Roscillin include respiratory tract infections (such as bronchitis, pneumonia, sinusitis, and tonsillitis), urinary tract infections, ear infections, gastrointestinal bacterial infections, and some sexually transmitted infections — always as directed by a doctor.

Because this medicine is absorbed better when the stomach is relatively empty, it's typically taken 30 minutes before or 2 hours after food, unless your healthcare provider advises otherwise. You must finish the full prescribed course, even if symptoms improve early, to fully clear the infection and reduce the risk of resistant bacteria developing.

Roscillin is not effective for viral illnesses like the common cold or flu and should only be used with a doctor's prescription. Using antibiotics when not needed can make them less effective in the future by encouraging resistant bacteria.
