Understanding Our TEM Capabilities
The Transient Electromagnetic method involves generating a controlled electromagnetic pulse into the earth using a surface transmitter loop. When the transmitted current is abruptly turned off, it induces secondary eddy currents in the subsurface. These currents decay over time depending on the resistivity of geological layers.
A receiver coil measures the decay rate of these induced currents.

Fast decay → conductive materials (clays, saline water, mineralization)

Slow decay → resistive formations (bedrock, dry sand, fresh groundwater zones)
By analyzing these decay curves and electromagnetic responses at various time windows, TEM provides an accurate depth–resistivity model of the subsurface.
TEM allows imaging from shallow layers down to greater depths, depending on loop size and system configuration, making it ideal for both near-surface and deep investigations.
