Tuvar Dal

- Pour 4 cups water into cooker. Add red gram, turmeric powder and salt. Stir once.
- Put into cooker and cook for 3 mins after getting full pressure, and then cool naturally
* Then open cooker and mash dal to blend with liquid
* Place the cooker with dal on high heat. Add remaining water (3 cups) and other ingredients except the tempering part.
* Reduce the heat and cook for 5 mins stirring occasionally
* For tempering, heat oil in a pan for 1 min. Add mustard and cumin seeds. When crackling, add red chillies, curry leaves and asafoetida. Stir for a few seconds and pour over dal. Stir and serve hot
