Yellow dextrin is manufactured by dry roasting partially hydrolyzing Starch in the presence of a catalyst. Hence, the starch molecules are broken into smaller components due to the process of dextrinisation. This powder is not highly viscous and is sticky and absorbs water easily. It is used largely as a binder in cores in foundaries and is fond to increase the strength by dissolving the product entirely in water.
